there are a lot of great athletes in nys. but they either don't play football or only play it a few months a year. we are getting a lot of athletes out of nyc but it is a risk because some won't pan out at all while the others may take 2-3 years to blossom into football players. there just aren't that many football players in ns that are ready to contribute year 1 or 2, especially downstate.

i respect you're posts and def understand you, my boy Chris Cowen was I believe a 3 time sec champ at wrestling and IMO, the best heavyweight prospect in sec 3 in the last 20 years. The problem was he didn't start wrestling until (don't quote me since 7th grade). I have never EVER scene anyone put a block on someone in football like he has. When Art Jones was a freshman and Chris was a junior, Chris beat Jones at the UE tournament...which if you know wrestling, then you know that UE is the best dual meet tournament in the STATE hands down. My point being that Art Jones is a 5 star prospect IMO bc he actually made the NFL which is incredibly honorable IMO. I agree and think that the best athletes are not playing football in NY unlike the South. I am drunk right now so its been "apita" (a pain in the ass) to write this and be articulate. Please, we are all SU fans and I care about SU sports bc I am a native CNY'er and Syracuse University is unlike other business' in that it can't leave the area. What can we do? (btw, i can give more examples of locals being better athletes than the ones being recruited)

Hopefully Brandon Reddish and Wayne Morgan are exceptions to the apparent NYC rule.
Jay Bromley has been positive.
We will see.
gee i always thought that downstate, nyc and long island were far better than upstate and more recruited. granted nys places less emphasis on football, plays fewer games and less practices than most states. i think we have more restrictions.there are a lot of great athletes in nys. but they either don't play football or only play it a few months a year. we are getting a lot of athletes out of nyc but it is a risk because some won't pan out at all while the others may take 2-3 years to blossom into football players. there just aren't that many football players in ns that are ready to contribute year 1 or 2, especially downstate.
