Is he ever coming back?

Does the dual QB curse - beginning with Michael Vick and Joe Daly - continue?

i hope so, although from day one when it was announced that he was attending to personal issues my visceral reaction was he is not coming. what i do like, is that there has not been intrusion, and comments re his issues, and they leave him alone. wish any kid the best and hope he works through his issues and moves on to what is best for him. just don't forget the academics alin.

At this point, if anything, I think he's going to end up being a January entry.

Weird situation. I don't think it's a simple homesick case. Hope he makes it here.

wow, i assumed he was back.

im with chip, january...but thats probably a best case scenario.

Hoping and praying he makes it here and more importantly his family situation improves, whatever that may be.

From the very first time I watched his tapes, I had the sense that Eduard might be exactly the type of dual threat playmaker (catching lightening in a bottle type of recruit) that will help re-energize the program. HCSS unwavering support of the kid suggests that he might feel the same way. Curse or not, we NEED to find that player.

In that vein, I am guessing that we are going to see some packages for Long, beginning with the CMU game.

Let's hope that Eduard makes it back in January and that the home situation is resolved enough to allow him to focus on football.

Why would we burn Long's RS?

Looking more and more like he will be back in January. I know there is a lot of skepticism, but there has never been any hint of doubt that he will end up here eventually. It may even work out best for both parties. He wasn't going to play this year, or next year, so he shows up in Jaunary, gets a whole Spring under his belt, red shirts the following season, and then has an opportunity to win the starting job as a rs Freshman.

If he already attended summer classes, his eligibility clock has started. This will be his redshirt season.

and if he goes somewhere else he would have to sit again for another year. but if Hunts the starter next year does it really matter? Hope he shows up though he would bring an interesting mix to the QB battle

This is my only concern, but there is still a good chance he won't be penalized a year. He was only here for a few weeks and when it's almost certain he attended some class, he almost certainly would have withdrawn. He may also be eligible for some sort of waiver based on the circumstances in which forced him to go home. There is definitely a lot of questions, but I think he has just as good of a shot to not lose a year of eligibility, if not better, then he does of losing the year.

IF the O continues to perform like it did against Nova, I'm guessing Long will have a package. Have to find a way, any way, to get to 6 wins. If it means burning a redshirt or 2, burn it.

for a best, the 3rd stringer.

It's not about where Long is in the pecking order, it's about trying his skill set on the field in a package or 2 if the O continues to struggle. We have to find a way to win 6.

I have no idea what his situation is, however, something tells me that he won't be back.

o performed fine while hunt was in there got conservative after the ejection we were on our way to 30 + if hunt plays the whole game

Yeah, I think that is a reasonable assumption. However, I think the bigger issue is that this O's efficiency was so dependent on the performance of 1 player against an FCS team.

with 2/5s of our starting OL out and estime still nicked I'm assuming since he only played 18 snaps

Seems odd that practically no information has been given out at least to help clarify the situation. I can understand not getting specific about anything personal, but other programs seem to be able to inform the media and fans in a way that doesn't leave everyone scratching their head.

Puzzling.

Hoping for the best, but I don't think he ever steps on campus again.

Exactly. If his eligibility clock is running its not good for anybody. He'll be burning a redshirt year while not even in the program learning anything, studying film, working out, nutrition etc. it's really a shame.

I'm in the camp that believes he ends up at fiu, fau etc whichever one is down there in south florida. Though him ending up at either UCF,or USf wouldn't surprise me either.
