Opinion stated as people I know who are better connected then most believe that. Of course it’s nothing more then rumors at this point. But lots of $$ invested and they don’t want a empty dome, with all the money they just spent on the place.

Poor teams beat good teams all the time. This idea that DB should be here forever b/c of one game and one season is strange. Those things are looking like more like an anomaly than a reason to give him a lifetime contract.

We’ve been an okay to really bad team for most of his tenure. Terrible programs talk about that “big game” that more and more is looking like Clemson just took lightly.

No - people throw random stuff out. We boatraced teams when we ended top 15. Even in losses at LSU and Clemson and Miami we went toe to toe. The guys not a saint but it ain't easy to win.

Cuse is a tough place to win, a lot has to go right. Like a full roster of players for one.

Shafer went 7-6 playing against teams using the type of backups we are currently using. With Marrone players.

And got pounded by like 55 points against GT. Blown out several other times too.

2018 team was legit.

Putting them on the same level as merely “bowl seasons” is more than a little misleading.

When Lax was spitting the bed JW didn't axe Desko he gave him more resources, which also led to better players. Funny how that works.

I know this is a football post but I would argue lacrosse was never spitting the bed, we won acc titles and were a NCAA playoff team every year with a final four appearance since the last title. Desko has to fight lofty expectations and will return the team to that standard thanks to the new resources but to say we were ever as bad as football has been under Dino Babers and Scott Shafer is a stretch in my opinion.

Desko has to fight lofty expectations and will return the team to that standard thanks to the new resources but to say we were ever as bad as football has been under Dino Baber and Scott Shafer is a stretch in my opinion.

We were losing first round / second round games way too much. And didn't have the best guys on the field like we used to. Agree its' an imperfect analogy (the floors of the programs are different) but shows patience.

There are things in the works to help level the recruiting disadvantages the program faces. I think DB is going to be given more time than many here think.

Can you elaborate on what’s in the works for recruiting? I’ve seen others mention the same thing but no info on what changes are being made or will be made.

We can't continue to perform like we have for 4 of the last 5 years without looking to make changes. We've cut coaches for significantly less, and we're invested significantly more in DB than any SU FB coach since the '80's.

DB doesn't have a life pass for having 2 good games (Clemson and VT) + a good season (2018).

Will he be the SU coach next year? I think almost definitely. In that sense, his seat is cold. Will he be the coach the year after? Probably. Will he be the coach the year after that? Only if he stops asking us to believe without evidence and starts asking us to buy tickets to bowl games.

We also have our worst start since 2008 rn. The fact dino wants to downplay the good play of Morgan even if it was late in the game is appalling. The Schtick of metaphors and belief without evidence is tiring. Why is it syracuse the only team to have this many injuries and be this inept. Especially considering the OL is almost entirely the same as well as the WR’s and QB’s were

Dino has at least had a season where the team was legitimately very good. We haven’t had many of those in decades.

I like Dino... I’m expecting a better 2021... I rank him in the middle.

this is definitely a down year, but he’s gone toe to toe with most of the coaches in the conference.

we need more consistency though, and it has to happen fast.

Amongst all the other HC's in the ACC? Consider game planning, in-game adjustments, player development & conditioning, recruiting and his "name recognition factor" ( is he the coach HS kids WANT to play for?) and player retention ( do our kids WANT to stay that extra year or two to play for him?).

Overall I think most played hard. Greenwood on one particular play that everyone knows, looked like he wasn't trying. Taj looked disinterested most of the game.
