where was lally's response to waters article

My understanding is the chancellor and certain members of the board of trustees. But, I only know one side to this whole thing. I am just hopeful that the lines of communication can be opened and a compromise can be found.
I respect you for being so consistent in your support of Adam. Anything that can help Cuse basketball get back to where it should be is good with me.

That's what matters to most of us. From talking with Adam, I believe he feels that way also. If things can get ironed out, he is in. But, there is work to be done, and dasher is putting in some work. But, I think there are people involved that won't budge.

This sounds like folks need to think first what is best for the university and the basketball (and other) sports programs, and iron it out. We don't have too many billionaires in the Syracuse vicinity that are willing and able to give the program some flash and celebrity.

That’s just it. The chancellor and the board don’t think basketball and other sports programs have anything to do with what’s best for the university. People really need to get their heads around that. The chancellor’s job is not to run a professional sports franchise.

I get where your priorities are, but they don’t align with the leadership of the university, who care more about academic reputation, enrollment, and tuition based revenue. I’m not saying they don’t care about the AD, but it doesn’t rank as high in the “what’s best” category for them as it does for many of us here.

Do you think Syracuse basketball or Syracuse athletics told the media how short they were in NIL? Do you really believe that? They kept this stuff close to the vest. They didn't want anyone, rivals, media, fans to know how bad it was. How inept they were. The information just wasn't out there.
It was definitely out there...

Maybe it was harder to get exact numbers for players, but it was no secret that we did not have the money to compete at the highest level.

I said it on here many times during the summer and nobody believed me for a while.

If I was able to get that information, Waters was certainly able to as well. It's not exactly a coincidence they are writing about this stuff now.

I had no inside info other than simply watching how SU conducted itself and its transactions in and out of the portal, and I've been beating the drum since the beginning that our NIL is nowhere close to sufficient. It's been pretty obvious IMO.

It's no longer our biggest problem, but it might be the hardest problem to solve.

It is obvious you don't understand the limitations on real reporters. They don't write like they are writing
for an internet page. They have to have facts and sources to back up those facts. Most of the time, if not always, more than one source. That is why both Mike and Donna have been awarded New York sportswriters of the year awards. By not printing rumors or I think this guy got this amount but the number isn't exact. That is how they have both been inducted in to the college basketball writers Hall of Fame. They don't and quite frankly want to do what a Jackson Holtzer does. Or a internet poster. Who no one remembers when they get a post wrong.
Back in the summer, the team looked a bit different to a outsider than it does today. We had JJ and Bell back at the 2 and the 3. Both vets coming back from a 20 win team. We had Freeman, a high school AA at the 4 and he didn't come here for free. We paid 850k or so to Eddie and the coaches were claiming that Carlos was another Tyler Ennis. That team didn't appear to be the disaster that this team is. While I'm sure it did to you, by the way, what are the lottery numbers for tonight, but for someone who didn't actually see the team during the summer, maybe not so bad.

I laughed when Jackson went on Cuse Talk Radio earlier this week and said dump Autry now. I think you can really see the age and experience differences with how alot of the older media outlets and podcasters operate.

When it comes to how to pay the buyout or who to replace him with it really hasn't been thought out. The response from most people is that well we'll figure it out when we get there and it could never be as bad as it is now. Or I like this 1 coach or that other coach, all based on vibes or he had a good year. All things that in the next breathe they hammer the administration for going with Autry.
