Where was MCW?**

Given that MCW is close with Noel, it would have helped if could have played a few minutes and contributed today. Last thing we need is for NN to see him arguing with JB on the bench.

You have no clue what you are looking at. JB doesn't trust his game, because he doesn't have to. It is not out of the ordinary for guys that JB won't give run in the rotation one year to make huge contributions the following year. MCW will do this next year.

Fine if you want to ignore reality. You may continue to hope, because that is the only thing upon which to base your opinion. We won't accomplish much if MCW plays 30-35 minutes at PG next year. Maybe that is good enough for you. And your ad hominem attack only serves to underscore your baseless opinion.

Nice vocabulary display. Unfortunately, you're wrong in regard to MCW.

Blown out of proportion. You could see Boeheim coaching him on the bench and pointing out his mistakes with how Triche, Scoop & Dion play at the top.
I don't think I've seen Jim run that fast or get out on the court that far in a while. He was none to pleased with his defense. MCW gave it back a bit and that was the end of his night. There was an assistant coach between them for that timeout so MCW would stop arguing.

MCW didn't get back on D on at least one possession in the first half where he was sort of loping back and the pass went past him for an open UConn jumper. JB exploded off the bench and got in his face. It is the kind of lesson that a 4th guard in the rotation learns by sitting when he commits the infraction. Can't have lack of hustle from a guy who is deep bench no matter how highly rated he may be.

Exactly he wasn't getting back and stopping the ball and that is why he was pulled it cost us and put our D in a bad situation.

Just normal freshman attitude. Once he calmed down, JB was coaching him on the bench. He'll learn.

It was more than "normal freshman reaction" IMO. From where I was sitting MCW shouted loudly at JB. Hopkins grabbed MCW and held him back. Afterwards JB tried to calm him down and MCW was still yapping. He finally calmed down after about five minutes.

I am convinced that this is why he got early first half run at all in this game...JB knew his buddy was in attendance.

Dion will have a word with MCW. All is fine.

Thanks for letting us know how next season will play out. Now I won't have to waste my time following the 2012-13 team. Should I bother watching in 2013-14? Let me know.

As I saw on here once, at Syracuse, next year takes care of itself.

Not so sure. Have watched the whole sequence several times on OAA. There were two defensive trips where JB yelled at MCW. IMO really not his fault either time nor worthy of the over-reaction on the sidelines. UConn has players too; they sometimes make plays. Not every made basket by the other team warrants the screaming. MCW gave it back and they were nose to nose. Looked like both Hop and Gmac tried to get between. I am not one who assumes MCW is the answer for next year at PG if Dion does not return, but he didn't deserve the treatment. And the effect on Noel is something not to be dismissed.

I'm reminded of a similar incident last season with Waiters. As I recall, JB's response was along the lines of "It's a good thing for the players to want to be on the court"

Based on what??? It's nice to be a casual fan, and think he will be fine, and we will contend for an NC again next year. But aside for taking advantage of a demoralized St John's glorified high school team, MCW really hasn't done squat.

OBVIOUSLY, JB doesn't trust his game against quality competition. MCW has had the better part of a year to show us something, and he hasn't shown us anything.

If Dion leaves, next year we are in serious trouble at PG - gruesomely weak. Triche is not a PG.

Compunding the problem is that we have no PG coming in next year, and none worth while is available.

We better hope a JUCO PG is available who has a solid handle and can play D. Or else we will not contend for an NC. Period.

IMO...this wins the award for the most ridiculous post of the day. Coach has MCW on a short leash this year because he is not needed. Simple as that. Sit and learn from a HOF coach and the best backcourt in the nation. He will be fine when the time comes.
JUCO...you must be kidding.

After seeing that dunk of his, I do not want to lose this kid. Who knows, maybe he is following the road map laid down by Dion? Maybe it's like Buddhism with a specific path to follow or certain mantras or something. If it works, I'm happy, although I'd prefer everyone were happy.

Why isn't our 4th guard (who's also a freshman) playing ahead of 3 veteran guards (2 of whom took over the game late today)?:bat: Relax, MCW will get his.

OMG! Trouble brewing in 25 and one land! If MCW really wants to follow in Waiters footsteps then he would have needed to tell JB ^c< Off! Waiters was pretty much dismissed as not coming back and look at him now. This entire episode will fade quickly and all will be well. As for Noel, the kid is going to do what the kid is going to do. He can't really make a bad decision as to where he will end up playing a this point in time. If we get him, great! If we don't get him, Great! Cuse is going to be great next year with or without him... PERIOD. and by the way, MCW is going to be sensational at point for us next year and anyone who doesn't believe that hasn't been payin freakin attention.

Honestly, from what I've seen and heard from MCW up until now, I think today was a heat-of-the-moment incident, and not indicative of his attitude. I mean, he's often one of the first off the bench to greet the team as they're coming off the court for time outs - and often the most animated leading cheers on the bench as well.
I think he was extra amped up today and wanted badly to make an impact, and was super frustrated when that wasn't happening. And he's a youngster.

I hope I am wrong. But we need to have plan B ready in case I'm not. Peace.
no offense but you know nothing about basketball if you do not think this kid will be good next year

like others have said the fact that we have 3 other guards makes it so he does not get much of a chance to do anything, but he has contributed when he has had a chance

look at Dion last year, and last year we actually needed Dion because we didn't have 3 other guards

No doubt. Some examples off the top of my head of players that made major frosh-to-soph leaps in minutes and production:

Preston Shumpert
Todd Burgan
Damone Brown
Etan Thomas
Kris Joseph
Hakim Warrick
Sherman Douglas
Stevie Thompson

OBVIOUSLY, JB doesn't trust his game against quality competition. Fab has had the better part of a year to show us something, and he hasn't shown us anything.

If Riley/Keita leaves, next year we are in serious trouble at Center - gruesomely weak. Fab is not a Center.
Compunding the problem is that we have no center coming in next year, and none worth while is available.

We better hope a JUCO center is available who can score block rebound and play D. Or else we will not contend for an NC. Period.

Just thought I'd edit your original post to see what you might have said about Fab last year - frosh to soph jump can be impressive and MCW is certainly better at his position now than Fab was at his last year.
