Wouldn't it be better to have the semi-finals in a week or two and let the semi-final losers got to a bowl so they could finish their season on a better note and just have the championship game in the bowl season? That way there would also be less time between the last game for these teams and the momentum they had at the end of the season, (which may have gotten them into the tournament), would have a better chance of carrying over to the playoff games. Instead we'll get teams waiting a month of more and who knows what kind of performance we'll get?

The bowls have been and will be the biggest obstacle to a true playoff and why D2 and 3 have had a playoff since the beginning, they didn't have bowls to deal with.

If it's that important, then just have one of the bowls host a consolation game. But that wouldn't work either. The real loser would be the host of the game. You think the fans of the two losing teams are going to swarm to some city to watch another game at that point? That would be the most meaningless of the meaningless bowls. Because the fans of the team would care much less than the regular bowl schedule of non playoff teams.

Good god no! They are already going to the Rose or Sugar Bowl, they get 2 bowls now??? Any team that loses in the playoff will NOT want to play another game. Or even probably be up for another game.

They are technically playing in the Sugar Bowl and Rose Bowl.

Player safety? These teams winning in the playoff already are playing an extra game, so let's make the losers play an extra game?

If memory serves, whoever wins the Title will have played 15 games, so basically an NFL season. I know nobody cares (except when kids are underperforming and getting picked on on message boards for not performing up to snuff) but these are college kids, a lot of these kids (yes even those playing for it all) will never get a shot at the pros, but will walk away from the game with significant injuries that will affect the rest of their lives. Let's not expose any more kids to injuries for our amusement, especially when nobody even wants to play a consolation game in a non-violent sport like Basketball, screw consolation games in football.
