No one wants to discuss the real problem, which is the pathetic defense. We had leads against Clemson, Pitt and UNC and the D gives them a big play to revive their will and then their defense comes in and plays inspired and gritty. If Devito starts and gets a good lead and the same thing happens, then it will be the defenses fault,

Defense had some big stops in the UNC game to keep us alive too.

I agree, the defense has had a knack for giving up a big play as soon as we get a decent lead and letting the opponent back in it. But we should give credit where it’s due too. Lots of big stops when we needed them last week.

Devito had the benefit with to short fields in overtime. Dungey had a Td wiped away with the Custis knee down inside the one. Riley’s droop cost him yardage and possibly a touchdown. Don’t overlook his rush for a Td.

We had a short field in OT against Pitt too...

Custis knee was down though? It was a good call. Good throw and catch though.

I’ve never overlooked his rushing. He’s great there.

He’s not passing nearly as well as he usually does though.

I know his knee was down just saying it could have been a Td in the stat books with a little luck.

We scored 40 points against UNC. Dungey got us 20 of them. DeVito got them a lot faster but let's not pretend Dungey did nothing in that game. And Tommy wasn't perfect, either.

If you start DeVito you almost can't go back to Dungey unless there's an injury, right?

For that reason, I start Dungey but as many here say, on a very short leash.

There’s no need to decide that the guy who hasn’t played as well as the other is garbage and no need to King the other.

D kept us in the UNC game when we were about to get blown out at any moment they had like 4 huge stops very late when a UNC score would have meant game over.

Clemson is a virtual lock to be 4/5 on making the playoffs and they only had 13 points in the 4th quarter at home against our D. Pitt was a roadie and the next week they almost took down ND at ND.

Dungey had a terrible game. How do u not see that. Watch last years NCST game and watch last weeks game. Dungey was slinging last year and I thought threw well but sat was a crap show cause he is hurt. Eric is not playing his normal game and if u can’t see that I’m sorry. Can’t even hit a 8 yd screen for a Td. It was wide open. Throwing behind guys when he should be leading them. Throwing balls out of bounds towards Custis e yds out instead of dropping them in front of him to lead him cause he can’t make the deal throws cause HE IS hurt. Before u say I am krazy rewatch the games and u will see. Simple passes are tough for him right now. Let me know what u see.

Last year Babers started Mahoney for what, 3 games and Rex one and didn't want to have Devito lose his whole year of eligibility. Obviously the new redshirt rule wasn't in effect and in hindsight, would y'all rather had TD play to get experience and lose that one year but have him even more ready for this year? I for one was happy to see Zack and Rex get some starts and it makes me think of Babers being loyal to the ones who put in the time/work...not that TD wasn't working hard but this was a reward for Zack and a peek at what Rex could do. Part of it could have been not throwing TD to the wolves so to speak I suppose.
