Who's youre starting 5 most hated opposing players?

How the hell does Hasheem Thabeet make an all-time Top 5 Syracuse most hated opponents list? I'm a UConn fan so I'm biased about all our players, but I can obviously see how someone wouldn't like a Khalid El-Amin type player, but what's your guys beef with Thabeet? (Serious question, not trying to start anything).

6 OT game when the refs refused to foul him out until about his 12th foul is the glaring moment in my memory. I just have a disposition to dislike overhyped players that get special treatment from the refs (ex. almost anyone from Duke). Thus Harangody being on my list as well.

Feel free to post your top 5 as a UConn fan, I'd be curious to see who you come up with whether it's SU players or not.

Ewing - GTown
Graham - GTown
Krauser - Pitt
Dudley - BC
Page - G'Town
Head Coach - John Thompson
Asst Coach - Bernie Fine

Of course...how did all of the other posters, myself included, omit Bernie !!

Appreciate the vitriol you have for these guys but I was born in 84 and my earliest Cuse hoops memory is 95 (Moten Timeout vs Arkansas) and vaguely John Wallace before that. I hated Ewing as a Knick not a Hoya until I found out later he was a Hoya of course. Maybe next time I'll write a dissertation but this was just a 5 second post brother. Relevant is a relative term, to each their own.

Don't get offended guy. You missed the golden age of hate. Though I should have Krauser on my lust.

Alonzo Mourning and the 30 secs it took him to shoot his free throws
Ewing
Dudley
Harangody
Thabeet

Semi-talented enforcer type who dominated our bigs, whined to the officials at every chance, and snuck in a ton of cheap shots.

I'll give you that he was a bit of a whiner to the refs, but enforcer type and a cheap shot artist? Not so sure about that. I watched every single game of Thabeet's career and enforcer is the last thing that comes to mind, in fact, many people complained about his lack of fire. I don't recall many cheap shots at all, except the one Dejaun Blair did to Thabeet when he body slammed him.

Suppose the view of special treatment is a skewed by who's your team perspective, so I can't debate that with you.

My top 5? Not really sure who I'd include in it, but man, I really hated Devendorf. I thought he was a punk, but I'll give the guy credit, he did have game. A shame (for you guys) he left a year early.

C Patrick Ewing
Troy Murphy
Jerome Lane
G Khalid El Amin
G Charles Smith

Got some great ones added...I have to add for my list

Shaheen Halloway
Darius Lane
Khalid El-Amin
Josh Boone
Karl Krauser

Three pages and no Michael Adams, John Bagley, Mark Jackson, KIng Rice, Sam Perkins or Earl Kelly,

Being an old BE fan it would be hard not have the whole team be dressed in Hoya blue & gray!! But there's one I need to add so here goes......

Gene Smith (way ahead of his time on the Duke-flop)
Ralph Dalton
Michael Graham
Alonzo Mourning
Eric Devendorf (He just has to be on your favorite team to like him in any way...lol kinda like Kahlid I'm guessing)

Honorable Mention.....Pinone (got away with murder), Jarod Dudley, Marvin Barnes, Linehan among others...

Coach - Matt Doherty

I have difficulty getting past Michael Graham. But here goes.
1) Graham
2) Ewing
3) Pinone
4) John Bagley
5) The guy from Pitt who poked Preston Shumpert in the eye.
Coach: John Thompson II

Any list that doesn't include Kerry Kittles is incomplete.
Not to mention the three from ND - LaPhonso Ellis, Damon Sweet, and Elmer Bennett. I still can't stomach that game.
Oh yeah, John Bagley from BC

1. Alonzo Morning
2. Don Reid
3. Jahidi White
4. Ruben Boumje-Boumje
5. Reggie Williams

Coach - John Thompson II

Picking up on a pattern here? I was a little young for Ewing and Graham, but for some reason i remember hating Reggie Williams and David Wingate. For non-Hoyas, Chris Smith really sticks out in my mind. Of a more recent vintage, I can't stand that zitty Kurick kid at Louisville.

Good call; I did not like that John Linehan.

C Patrick Ewing
G Keith Smart
G Matt Brust or Michael Jackson

I always kind of liked Kittles. I know he ran up that phone card bill, but he never seemed like a bad guy to me. If I'm unaware that he beat up his girlfriend or something, I withdraw my comment.

Here's mine. You can probably tell I've spent too much time thinking about this kind of thing
There are guys who were thugs, guys who sucked but when they played SU they had career nights, and the guys who make gorilla faces or gang signs after a play. Also, I first started following SU in the tri-captain year (82-83 Rautins, Santifer, and Bruin) so I can't go back any further.
C -Anthony Glover (St Johns) You can stick in any of those 6'5" to 6'7" centers that always seemed to kill the SU bigs in the late 90s early 00's. Plus he seemed to played for 7 years!
- Michael Graham (Gtown) - 84 BET finals. nuff said
-Luke Harangoty (ND) - the whinging, the flops & dives, the <mad> face he always had. Harangutan
G - Keith Friehl (ND) Friehl sucked but had one magical game against us. 30 footers with time winding down and a hand in his face. Every time he was in a game afterward (not often. he sucked, remember?) even after he transferred to UVa they mentioned his game against SU
G - Karl Krauser (Pitt) - the "x" sign he did was annoying, but seriously, did he have to do it even after a made FT?

strangely, my hate for Keith Smart went away after '03.

4. Ruben Boumje-Boumje

I'm surprised it took this long for Mourning to make an appearance.
1. Alonzo Mourning
2. Keith Smart
3. Allen Iverson
4. Richard Hamilton
5. Emeka Okafor

I'm a little too young to remember the Pearl and Ewing.
