Does Wildhack go back to finding a GREAT recruiter, and trust him to put good people around him as he learns to coach or does he go with someone with HC experience? Will he look to the women’s game?
Will he go with an inside guy with outside experience, like a Jason Hart?
Has he back channeled the next coach already?
Whoever it is, they are going to have to win the introductory press conference in a slam dunk!!
EDIT: Someone who brings serious NIL backing?

Had to look him up.

New USF men's basketball coach Bryan Hodgson will make $1.25 million in his first season with the Bulls, about three times more than his previous annual salary at Arkansas State. Hodgson, 38, signed a six-year, $8.25 million contract with USF, according to records obtained by The Oracle.

I'm not even sure what make a successful DI basketball coach anymore. We've learned with Red that Xs and Os still matter and we need a good floor coach, but now coaches also need to be good at the transfer/NIL game. So you need someone who can re-recruit their current players and work with donors to pay the players that they want. That side of the game seems to be why so many good old school coaches have retired in the past few years.

The crazy thing is that finding a great high school recruiter may not be that critical anymore, in basketball at least.

How the hell has Kelvin Sampson been able to have breakthrough success at Houston when he couldn’t coach his way out of a paper bag at Oklahoma? At least in 2003, anyway. I was never a fan of his.

The guy hit the rock below rock bottom and is now one of the most successful coaches in the last decade. He learned how to adapt to the new college game and is able to motivate guys to play lockdown D.

There’s a lesson to be learned here, I’m just not sure what it is. 🤣 I guess it would be “Hey, you never know. Don’t count someone out.”

Unless it’s Red.

I always laugh at people who bad mouth Fran.

You guys are ridiculous

He just lost his starting QB. No biggie. Those guys aren’t important for football and hard to find, right?

I mean, we’re powerhouse football school, Syracuse. I’m sure all powerhouses like us have backup QBs ready to run the show.

For all their money LSU had their struggles too. Having a good backup is the exception not the rule right.

We lacked a capable, functional 2nd string QB who could throw a ball. Nobody was expecting good.

This one should be an absolute no-brainer. You hire a guy with a proven history of winning and X and Os coaching chops. Those guys are usually program builders as a by product of their winning and acumen. If you build it, they will come. By "they" I mean players, fans, and donors.

We weren’t winning anything with an even mediocre backup, almost nobody would. Best case scenario with a backup QB at a school like ours is winning some games and missing a bowl game. So some fans are mad at Fran for going from missing a bowl game to missing a bowl game.

A halfway decent qb would’ve found 2 more wins. And there’s your bowl game.

What a joy that would’ve been. Appointment tv.

edit: Hold on a sec. How tf would 2 more wins have gotten us in a bowl game?
