Why I Think Uniforms Matter To Some of Us

I personally don't have a problem with a once a blue moon type thing going to a retro uni or a futuristic uni. I just don't want to see SU using 2 or 3 types of helmets, 3 or 4 or 5 color combinations, uniform styles, etc. in a single year. Syracuse has a football brand. It's traditional uniforms are unmistakable and among the best in college football.

Be like the vast majority of the best programs in the country; respect your tradition, market your great brand and distance yourself from the bad programs that change their uniforms almost as often as they change their coaches.
And what uniforms are those? Fact of the matter is if you go to casual non-SU fans they wouldn't pick out the McNabb or McPherson uniforms as "syracuse's traditional uniforms". They wouldn't even know what our uniforms look like. And neither do recruits.

I've said it before - if it's in the name, you don't need to over do it in the uni. What percentage would satisfy your need for "heavily"?

I like the Blue unis from this year and the new helmets. That said, I'm not opposed to change, unlike most of you McNabb era junkies (I was a fan and alive then, but am not really tied to the jersey style then)...

As long as the orange is more like the basket ball unis and not like the GRob era orange unis, I think they could put something attractive together...

We are...

Why I think candles matter to some of us. Whenever my wife lights a candle, I think of Lincoln penning the Gettysburg address and setting forth healing in a war torn nation. I think of Betsy Ross, using her little hands to thread a symbol of a new power. I think of Paul Revere riding his majestic steed warning our great militia of an impending redcoat attack.

You guys and your electricity. You'll never know what it is like to sew your own dolls out of burlap and stuff it with hay. Now you kids don't even talk to each other around the dinner table. Your ipads and video games cannot and will not replace the hours of fun we had with out spinning tops and taking turns hitting a shuttlecock about our fields.

Does that mean you think SU's uniforms should or should not use the color orange?

I don't believe the original post had anything to do with using the color orange. It had to do with the notion or concept of what a "traditional" uniform is.

That's fine. But do you think our uni's should or should not have orange as a main color such as the pants?

Is that what this thread is about? In all seriousness, I don't care if we wear a dick on the top of our helmets this year like some sort of erotic unicorn. I'm much more concerned with the product on the field than what they are wearing. If I cared that much I'd have 800 posts on the Burberry forum.

Not doing so certainly kept the greats away:

Good reply.

shopping

We could wear these easily as Nike already sells. The GRob era Orange jerseys were disgusting shade of Orange. This shade is perfect. I don't want our uniforms changing each week a la Oregon, but wanting a damn Orange jersey isn't too much to ask for. The Syracuse Blues don't wear barely any Orange this season.

We had 3 games in white jerseys/blue numerals/orange pants/orange helmets-Penn State, Northwestern, NC State
We had 2 games in blue jerseys/white numerals/orange pants/orange helmets- Pittsburgh,Boston College
We had 3 games in blue jerseys/white numerals/blue pants/blue helmets- Tulane, Clemson, Georgia Tech
We had 2 games in blue jerseys/white numerals/blue pants/orange helmets- Wagner, Wake Forest
We had 2 games in white jerseys/blue numerals/blue pants/ orange helmets- Maryland, Florida State
We played our bowl game against in Minnesota in a white jersey/blue numerals/blue pants/blue helmet

Look at that crap we had 5 games with Orange pants and 8 games with Blue pants. We never wore an Orange helmet 9 games and Blue helmet 4 games. 0 games with an Orange jersey or Orange numerals. Just WEAR MORE ORANGE and I will .

The point is through all the years they didn't mess with their colors
Like switching from pink and pea green to orange?

Tradition: when your memories trump the current world in which you live.
