Why is Jimmy Fallon a Syracuse fan?

Fun fact about Jimmy Fallon. He came to do standup at Syracuse in the late 90s in his first year as a featured player (not a full cast member) on SNL. He was a complete nobody and performed in Schine for like 100 people tops.

As a member of the stand-up comedy club, student comics would open for the headliner. I didn't open for Jimmy that day, but ended up going to the bars with him on Marshall Street with a few of the other comics.

The guy was the very definition of "fake nice." Big talker. Never bought one drink for anyone, thought he was the coolest guy in the room and that everyone should be kissing his ass (keep in mind nobody knew who he was). He would say things like "do you know who I am?" and other douche chilling phrases. To top it off, he met one of the comic's new attractive girlfriends and ended up leaving with her.

His nice guy shtick is completely fake and he's a belligerent and childish ass. I'll never like or respect him. Abcde_ Jimmy Fallon.

Big Daddy. All Syracuse apparel, all the time.

A cousin Sandler is close to went to SU. She was there when I (we) were there in the 90s. Sandler actually played a show at Schine in 1995 as a favor to her. Was a fundraiser for Hillel House I believe, on a Sunday night after he was in NYC for SNL the night before. During the show he told people he'd see them at Chuck's after. We thought it was a joke...it wasn't. Guess he hung there all night.

So the SU love in Big Daddy was legit.

Unlike the Fallon story, apparently those who hung out with him at Chuck's said he was awesome.

To be fair, I’ve seen him in other teams the last few days.

They are totally sold out.

I believe he hung with the hoops team after a show at the Landmark around the same time.

What a stupid question. The question is my friend, why isn't everyone else?

I'm wondering how St. Tristian became an SU fan. He never posted in the thread about fan origins. I personally think he was a member of Edelin's inner circle, saw a post from Bees about GMAC being the starting PG, and decided to stick around and troll everyone.

It's pretty well know that he is a Cuse fan and wears gear all the time. He is from Brooklyn.

Yup. I happened to be at Schine when tickets went on sale. I bought about 20.

Who cares about these guys?

Incredible actor, though. A lifelong Yankee fan, he played a Red Sox fanatic in Fever Pitch whose dream came true. Greatest performance in movie history. Laurence Olivier couldn't have done that.

Run with it. School should be keeping him happy offering premium seats to events in NYC metro area (and a few on campus)
The guy that plays green arrow (Stephen Amell) is a big SU fan, comes to a football game yearly at the dome, and I don't think SU has any idea. Actually got head butted last year by some drunk fan who said he wanted to fight the green arrow. I wrote to the SU AD and asked that they reach out as a nice gesture, but never heard back. Doubt it happened.

He had a sports guy on his show recently who asked him who he roots for and he said SU. Said cause in Albany they had no big college teams to root for so Syracuse was the closest thing and he always has rooted for SU since he was a child. There are many stories out there if you google that Fallon is a big-time drinker and has been carried out of many bars passed out drunk. And like recently, not old stories from when he was a kid. Like since he has taken over the Tonight Shows the New York papers always spot him at bars just ugly drunk and out of control to the point where NBC had to step in and do something about it.

Just google "Jimmy Fallon Drunk" and you will get a million results.

If you want the honest answer...which I suspect many don't (particularly from this board...3-2-1, begin slow mode...shout out)...he didn't have to go to SU to be an SU fan. We had a HUGE brand at one point that went beyond traditional mktg.

I'm not an alum, I was born into SU fandom. To be honest, I didn't have much interest in attending SU either. I love SU Sports, and that's our relationship. More specifically, football is by far the biggest reason...

I know, I'm a sick individual, I just keep coming back for more punishment.

The guys from the State (90s variety show) came to my frat house after a show one night. Great guys. Couldn’t have been nicer.

Funny story about “Jack Nicholson”. Week before 96 final four, a fake Jack called Buzz Shaw for tix because that was a tough ticket to get (last non dome final four). Buzz amazingly sniffed it out. So Jack I don’t think is a cuse fan. Buzz told us at a pizza party at his house. No request to rake leaves.
