- We all seemed to think that Wake Forest was back to being Wake Forest and that the successes Jim Grobe had when he first came there were becoming a distant memory, (their last winning season as 2008). They lost to Louisiana-Monroe and got blown out by Clemson 7-56. Hold on, my friend! They beat NC State, (by a point more than we did), crushed a 5-1 Maryland team 34-10 and had #7 Miami on the ropes- in Miami before losing in the final minute. Now just why would they be afraid of us?

- It’s all about Tanner Price to Michael Campanero. In those last three games Price is 75 for 120 (.625) for 801 yards, 6TDs and 2 interceptions. Campanero has at least 10 receptions in all three games for a total of 33 for 363 yards and 4TDs. Against our perpetually confused secondary they’ll have a field day.

- And we counter with Terrel Hunt to Ashton Broyld. Hunt in his last three games is 25 for 58, (.431) for 194 yards 0TDs and 6 interceptions. (His great rival, Drew Allen had 2TD passes and 8 interceptions on the season). Broyld, easily our most productive receiver has caught 11 passes for 139 yards and no scores in these last three games. We’re obviously no match for Price/Campanero. What we do best is run the ball but we came out throwing against Georgia Tech. Who knows what George McDonald has planned for this game? If it isn’t doing what we do best, I don’t like our chances.

- With our regular kicker, Ross Krautman done for the season with an injury, out kick-off guy, Ryan Norton has been filing in unsteadily. Now he decided to go out and get drunk and get suspended from the team. Our punter, Riley Dixon will now handle all the kicking chores, something that is not usually recommended. Here’s a better idea: punt or go for it on fourth down and go for two on extra points. Do you think Shafer would have the guts to do it? Probably not.

- In 1999, we had a 16th ranked, 5-1 go to Blacksburg to play Virginia Tech. They lost, 0-13. That was the first half. And also the second half. That team lost four of its last five regular season games. Faced with mounting criticism, Jake Crouthamel reminded people that “this team lost a game 0-62”, and they never recovered from that. Well, this team just lost a game 0-56, (0-28 in each half). They’ve had two weeks to contemplate that. What, exactly is their confidence level now?
