Wildhack is on the Clock

He’s getting 4. That’s the number of years to get “your guys” in the program. Red can recruit and will get the players he wants. But no way he’s gone after this year. Year 3 will be very important. Wins are still wins as of right now

It might as well have been a loss. It doesn’t matter either way, this program is going nowhere and is completely irrelevant. There’s nothing suggesting we’ll find our way out of this mess either.
2 games lol… 2. You’re right it’s impossible for a team to improve as the year goes on. Might as well not play the rest of the season

Disagree w/ you on this. The “plan” was three years, not four. I am hoping something clicks with either the coach or the team but I am dreading what happens when they play a “real” team.

I think there is a group of fans who like to complain. It might be subconsciously but they realize with the class we have coming in next year we are going to improve and they won't be able to do it. I'm excited about what Red is doing.

I agree the season isn’t over, of course, but so many posts on this board are also completely downplaying the fact that —Syracuse could have easily lost to LeMoyne and Colgate to start the season.

It is alarming at an absolute bare minimum. I agree let the season play out, sure, but the pessimistic fans amongst us aren’t necessarily crazy..

Is that just a flippant remark or do you really believe that?

It’s not an invalid perspective to recognize we haven’t been in the tournament or ranked in quite a while, we used to destroy teams we are now ‘lucky’ to beat [and since we’re playing them at home, we might only be ‘equal’ to them on a neutral court], we haven’t been a threat to be tops in the conference since we moved to the ACC, and we are in a whole new world of recruiting with NIL.

You attribute recognition of this as a personality flaw in the observers? And those people are ‘getting their jollies in‘ before the turnaround next year?

Apparently it refers to “on the job training.” I had to look it up. I am not sure why we have to abbreviate everything. It takes less than three seconds to type the actual words. FML.
:) LOL

Doesn't take 4 years with the transfer portal. That's ridiculous. And no he better not get 4 if there's no NCAA bid. That would be 5 in a row.

I appreciate your positivity, but a lot of fanbases would be complaining after 3 years with no NCAA and to come out like this in the first two games.

Had a week to at least show a little improvement on defense and Devo sure wasn't impressed, but we'll see.
I did hear him talk alot about it but do u remember Devo as a defensive genius in college, i dont either so all the things he was saying about these he would be saying about himself. Yea he gets it 100% now but it didnt look like he did in college. Kids are learning and honestly the thing i see most is lack of grit and want on defensive end. To be great on defense, its all heart.

Transfer portal changes everything - the leash has to be shorter. This roster is Reds guys, no? They could definitely improve but we haven’t seen much development the past 2 years. It appears Judah may have bailed us a lot out last year to get those 20 wins; clearly we miss Maliq a ton. So he lost his best 2 players and clearly did not replace with equal talent.

Year 3 is big because of Kiyan. If this year and next year don’t go well (aka no NCAA tournament) then he shouldn’t get a year 4.

Wins aren’t wins. This isn’t the NFL. You get into March based on your resume - and performances like the last 2 games severely hurt our metrics. We struggled mightily with 2 low level D1 programs. I’ll take any sort of “win” in conference sure, but games like this we should AT LEAST be in control. We could quite easily be 0-2, against (according to KenPom) the #337 and #226 teams in the country.

Those were our 2 easiest games this year with the possible exception of Albany. These were supposed to be our tune up games.

That sums a up a lot of my feelings. To add, yes we won 20 games last season, but realistically, we beat Oregon and UNC and NC State (before they started playing well and went on their crazy NCAA run.) It was definitely improvement from where we were, but was it really that great? I'm not so sure. There was a reason we weren't even on the NCAA bubble.
