Not every coaching hire works out. College athletics is rife with scandal and drama. Even the best ADs have to appease boosters, boards, influential alumni, and internal politics.

This. Even if the results weren’t always there, I really enjoyed his professionalism and answers. It’s clear his passion for SU athletics and I truly believe he did the best he could under a difficult environment both externally and internally

If what dasher says is true and the replacement isnt already on staff then im not sure how that could possibly fly. I hope they are already talking to eachother about candidates because hiring a coach as a lameduck AD seems like a terrible decision

The new AD whoever it is may get a say especially if SU goes to a full national search which I expect but again keep in mind both maybe national searches and you need a bball coach sooner rather then later.

Red won't formally be fired until early March and then your looking at a national search. Your talking probably late march at the earliest.

I do think that depends on who given if their current roster has a ton of possible portal candidates likely to come with.. but point stands it has to be quick enough to have time to recruit existing and portal guys.
