If we are equivalent to a 3 star hotel and the next school is 4 stars but we offer $50,000 more in NIL. Guess where he’s more than likely going.

The UCONN AD, noted as a longshot, would be a solid choice. He has made good hires in football and hoops. Strong experience in the right part of the country.

Similar issues as well, albeit state vs private school. Their football independence has forced creative thinking, which I appreciate.

You need to understand how that went down. If you think it was as clean as “I think Red is the right coach”, I can assure you this was not the case.

His hands were tied with Red. Were they also with Hop? Did he try to win that battle, but JB was too powerful? If JW pushed for it and lost then he should have little responsibility for this mess.

You really need 2 people in this era. You still need an old school athletics admin type. And then you need the fundraising type. Hard to find someone who fits both. It seemed that JW did well with the later but had issues with the former.

Agree. And that 2nd point about fundraising can be incredibly painful which I think we fall into or incredibly easy ie like St Johns having 1 Billionaire Repole bankrolling the whole hoops team and being best buds with Pitino, also not having to deal with other sports or football. Not alot of complexity there ha.

2 people? The athletic dept at SU has at least 26 admins under Wildhack, including a senior deputy, deputy directors, associate directors, special advisors, and special assistants. There is chief revenue officer, a director of business development, chief financial officer, director of marketing, and on and on.

Wildhack is the CEO of the department. He has been the vision, the leader, and the face of the dept. That's what we are replacing.

I am saying that it really is two jobs that one person cannot handle. I realize that we have people under the AD. We need experts on both sides, which i do not think we currently have. So we need to replace JW but we need to upgrade other places too. So which ever side the new AD fits, we also need someone on the opposite side.
