Wildhack retires today

Thx Bees and Richmond...makes sense. I have worked at different companies and seen committees operate both ways. I have seen exec's willing to go through process and still push "their preferred ". Seems like a nice mix on the committee. It will be interesting to see how it plays out. I like Tirico being in that group. Now if Haynie is Chancellor in waiting, would he be a final interviewer with the ADs? Presumably it would narrow down to two candidates. Appreciate your prior responses.

There’s no way this committee does any worse than a combination of Cantor - Gross.

No one was forced to install chair back seating, build the Victory court, install a massively upgraded video board and sound system, install a state of the art lighting system, etc.

It’s ok to simply admit you’re wrong.
ok. Their hand was forced for the roof. That’s like 90% of the Dome Renovation cost. SU made some nice additions to the Dome for people that care about cup holders, seatbacks, trash sound systems and a lighting system.

I myself care about watching good basketball and football and I could care less about the other crap. Apparently more people agree with me since attendance sucks and we have all these great bells and whistles.

Well it's not all about you. lol

I never said it was. I said apparently fans agree with me because attendance sucks. Maybe you missed that last sentence in your haste to make a smart arse reply.
Are we going to see you guys in a boxing ring?

You do realize that college football and college basketball attendance has been declining for years, right? It's not just an SU thing.

What is going on here is more than the national decline it college sports attendance. If it wasn’t we would still be first or second in attendance nationally in basketball.

I also think it’s more than win loss record. We are unwatchable in basketball (again). We were unwatchable in football (again). I can handle losses and even lack of talent to some extent but I can’t watch an undisciplined crap shoot. Unfortunately that has been both football and basketball most years.

You are the only person I've heard that doesn't like the renovations because of the...cup holders... which it doesn't even have!?. And you lied about the Dome reno's being a requirement for acceptance into the ACC.

I'll take being a smart arse over being disingenuous

I lied? I was wrong. Big difference wise guy.

The point was that the Dome renovation was already in the planing process when JW took over.

Then don’t watch. Personally I can go to an individual game and find some enjoyment despite the big picture. I was on my feet loving the second overtime Wednesday night, headed to the Dome shortly for a lax doubleheader and will be back tomorrow for SMU and Sunday for the women’s game.

You how freaking jealous I am of this.

If I missed it previously my apologies. So insiders have shared Haynie is the new Chancellor unofficially. It sounds like our new AD is the guy from West Point but there's now a search committee? Is this one of those things where for optics and let's call it "institutional procedure " a committee was formed but there's an understanding behind the scenes that there is a preference of this West Point guy? So the committee kinda quickly goes through the motions kinda thing OR has there already been a pivot and that is what the committee is for? (Understanding that like recruiting, information can change pretty quickly and perhaps there has been some things behind the scenes happening).
My appreciation in advance for inputs on the above.
It suspect it’ll be between Army AD and SU lacrosse alum Tom Theodorakis and Wildhack’s protege, Andrew Goodrich, who’s now AD at Akron but was deputy AD at Syracuse from 2018-2022. Unless they can land a really accomplished guy like Dave Benedict, those two seem like the obvious leaders. We definitely need someone who’s a bit of a visionary here to navigate the choppy waters of college athletics.

my guess would be those 2 and Paulus who consigliere mentioned. Paulus is very very highly thought of on the hill.

Paulus would be a shock, imo. Obviously he did a great job with the role he was given by Wildhack and is a Syracuse guy and beloved alum. But his experience helping to lead an athletic department or organization of this size like this is nonexistent. He’d have to blow away the comittee in the interviews with his vision.

Don’t believe he’s an alum. UNC and William & Mary undergrad and VCU grad school

Dave Benedict, because of his last two football hires, impresses me. There is a lot to like in his resume. Plus, we stick it to UConn by taking him.
