He’s probably at the point where he’d rather try his luck at the pros, however small that is, and move on with his life than play another year of college ball, if he’s going to be a limited use player. I’d have to assume some conversation with the staff spurred this. Why else would you seek a waiver, get it and then declare for the pros when you’re not getting drafted?

Also Fran had commented that he wasn’t even aware Nixon was seeking a waiver which was odd at the time.

He did say he was going to try to get another year from the NCAA
Then Fran said he was surprised and then he was off the NFL

These are the type of reporters who work at the Post on the football beat, with his good BUDDY bass. I honestly would tell my players do not say a word to them because they are looking to create strife and drama.

That is what the reporter wrote, whatever shade of truth good bad or indifferent that is divisive. Don't you think the player would have to talk to the coach? I wonder if that is included in journalistic writing courses as it relates to how to get information. That is not an example of journalistic integrity, there is a way to ask and there is a way to write while still being objective. I am hoping the toxic, Puff Cake, Creeper Patrol come out. I actually enjoy it tremendously, defend your buddies, because this is an extension of an old forum, not all people certainly as I do appreciate so many. But you have to agree, so many of us, that is truly a toxic environment from potentially quotient challenged individuals on multiple levels as it relates to professional integrity let alone personal goodness. That's how I remember it, as well. Fran pumped the breaks on him coming back in the first place, IIRC.

So him avoiding requesting the waiver might be equally about the team not necessarily being open to returning. Hard to know.
