I know there are a 'ton' of reasons why we are below average. The facilities, the $$, the Dome, the fans, the town's economics, etc etc. But Cusefan's post is exactly why I feel we are struggling. I know ppl love Marrone, and he's the exact opposite of our last coach, in that he doesn't show his emotions, plays a calm, in control coach. And it's just too easy to want the exact opposite when the current is doing ...
But I feel like you see a lot of younger coaches with just this unexplainable energy behind them. They sweat the love of the program, the love of their players and the game through their skin. And it spills over to the players. Add in that they (for the most part) play an exciting style of fb... and it works.
Now this is just me, but the weight room would be nice, but it's the style of play, and the coach, that would get me to want to win and play for a program. Similar to our bball program, before the melo center. How often do our recruits say they love the style of play? Well in fb, do we ever hear that? Not to mention our two biggest, or should be, our 2 biggest recruiting tools --- the Dome and the fast pace'd turf, and the former O-coordinator of the high tempo Saints, are somehow not encorporated into that style...
With so many issues, I feel you have to make the play exciting, to lure the exciting players, when our facilities, fans, etc are not quite there.

Marrone- have you ever seen my big fat Greek wedding rememeber how the parents keep calling the other parents toast. Well that is Marrone. I own my own company and have young adults working for me. Kids these days need to be motivated and when a coach is talking about is bologna sandwiches that's not cutting the mustard. Excuse the pun. Look at the winning coaches; Kelly, Saban, Myers, ... They are spit fires and are constantly pushing their guys. Conley may not have been a recruiter but that guy bleeds orange and was jumping around and getting after the guys. That's what we need.
Play calling- sorry boys this is all on Marrone. No offensive line but yet we run a small back up the middle 8 plays in a row for ten yards. We play in the dome and yes we don't have the players now but we need to run a high octane offense. Our line breaks down all the time. I know this is taboo but why not run a few option plays to keep the guys honest.
