Will we win another game?

Every team they play the rest of the way is in the same boat as NC State. Winnable games, but last night didn't inspire confidence largely because of the issues that plagued them heading into the bye week. They can lose out, go 4-8 or go 7-5.

Pitt really is the key to a successful season now. We need to pull out all the stops in the friendly confines.

Being 3-4 with 3 road games and a tough Wake home game is probably too much of an uphill climb for a bowl game.

4-3 makes 6-6 very possible.

The good news is that if we're terrible again it won't really be in front of the whole country for 4 quarters. Could be a game 6 of Cardinals - Nats, but if not, everyone will change over to Ohio State - Northwestern at 8:30.

We just lost to the worst team on our schedule and NCS didn’t even need to play well to win. Wake and Pitt will beat us easily and BC is a toss up. This team will not win at FSU or Louisville. Both of those teams have shown the ability to score. I don’t see this team scoring enough points at Duke either. I pray that I’m wrong, but my eyes are telling me different.

Good lord, yes. We can win or lose any of the remaining games. Just like NC State (and us) - they are all deficient.

But something is not right in the leadership area - and if that doesn't change - it's going to be rough sledding.
I think you are right. I also hate the current captain structure, think it makes the position useless. Should be a player(s) that team can rely on for leadership. Should be someone like Kendall Coleman.

Somewhat related, there seems to be a bit of stubbornness to change with this team. The offense needs to adapt to the players and talent that it currently has. Yet it hasn’t.Even slightly from a play calling standpoint with the exception of the screen game.

Not going to say were headed toward 3-9 but if we can't beat that NC State from yesterday its hard to see who we can beat remaining on this schedule. Lville's offense looks like Florida form 1991 compared to ours and BC and Pitt are going to run for about 500 yards based on our history against these teams. FSU is clearly a bridge to far at this point so ya not looking great.

Can only hope this is like 2011. A weird blip season sandwiched between two good ones (2010 and 2012)

I think we beat pitt, lville, and maybe BC. FSU and Wake are guaranteed losses and who the hell knows with Duke.

I can also see us only beating Pitt and ending 4-8. I don't really believe this because at the very least, our secondary guys coming back will make a difference with turnovers.

While I’m very disappointed with an ugly loss, I’m hopeful that the team will compete better at home, Dino will get control of the team, the team will get more healthy, and the team will return to a next game philosophy.

Everyone is frustrated, including the fans, players, coaches, and media. We were dreaming of the Orange Bowl. Our worst case fears have proved accurate. We were lucky in several games last year but we got to 10-3. Superb season that got us all inspired to get involved, with great expectations.

We all wanted that to continue with a 5-1 start. Injuries, the difficulty of winning on the road, and team chemistry have all whacked us hard. The team has remembered that winning is hard.

We need good news from the health perspective, catalysts and playmakers on the field, and fans in the stands to seize home field advantage from Pittsburgh. We can and will win more games. Football is dynamic and Dino is a pretty good guy to have in charge during adversity. He’s frustrated too. Let’s all take a breath, do our part, and hope for the best.

BC lost to Kansas by a million and by the time we play them Dillon will be run into the ground, Duke hasn’t beat anybody better than Western Michigan, and Louisville is still a team coming off of a 2 win season. If we don’t win at least 2 more games this season there are some serious problems

I have confidence in the defense. Yeah, there were some missed tackles last night, assignment confusion on the one trick play that led to the TD, Cordy trying to give them a TD. But they never gave up, and holding NC State to 16 at their home was really good. My money is on Cisco and Iffy returning soon as well.

But if the O doesn't pick up, eventually that will trickle down to the D.

Our happy time is short lived. It will come probably in another 15 years or 10 if we are lucky. By the way, yesterday is my birthday and I had to watch SU losing to the second worst team of ACC this year (next to Georgia Tech). Now many forums projected SU will be the second worst team of ACC this year.

BC has a bad D but if Brown plays, they still might outscore us. We are averaging 12 ppg vs P5 teams. We just played a team that was giving up points and couldn’t score vs P5 teams. Well after yesterday that team still can’t score but their D miraculously held us to 10!

NC State might be the 3rd worst team we play this year. I don’t see us winning on the road vs FSU, Duke, or Louisville. Pitt seems like a bad matchup for our O and Wake for our D. IMO winning any of those 5 is an upset.

Us losing this game 16-10 shows we are pure dumpster juice. The offensive line was horrid, Devito and his decision making was less then good, and defense was just so so. I say we win 1 more against BC.

I don’t think there’s a single person on this board that would call me an optimist, but this is a terrible post. The “will we win another game” threads should be quarantined to the Boneyard and whatever crapfest board Rutgers’ dozens of fans use.

So, your idea is that the question shouldn’t be asked? Or that, certain views shouldn’t be expressed?

We have people on here answering two different questions. What do you THINK will happen in the rest of the season? And what do you HOPE happens?

Now that we are six games into the season, people have a better view of the strengths and weaknesses of this team.

There’s certainly not a lot that we have seen that optimists can hang their hat on.

that's my guess too, BCs defense is bad enough for us to score enough, even with our crap offense, and assuming they don't have Brown, I think we can shut their offense down. beyond BC, just not seeing another win. there are plenty of winnable games but that assumes you have a competent offense and players who aren't sniping at each other and seem cohesive. we have neither of those two things

What makes you think the team will get "more healthy?" Every year under Dino, we have guys go down with mystery injuries and the staff makes it seem like they are close to being back, when in reality, they are season-ending injuries. I definitely don't expect to see Heckel or McKinley Williams returning this year. Would be surprised if Iffy returns as well. Devito was obviously banged up pretty good in the Holy Cross game, and he sure didn't get any better last night. We also have more games to play with more opportunities for injuries, so a blanket statement that "we will get healthy" is not realistic.

the most unsettling thing for me is I don't know what our ceiling is - I think Maryland was our floor, but have we seen our ceiling? How much better can we play? If not much we won't win many more games that is for sure. I used to think we were just inconsistent but after 6 games I'm leaning toward this is what we are.

yes, we just haven't played a good game on both sides of the ball. good defense against Liberty and NC State, good offense against Western Michigan. that's about it.

I dont think so... We have NO offense. Devito has looked worse than I could have imagined before the season. NC State has looked awful so far this year... our only hopes are BC & Louisville, but I think Louisville will beat us, BC is a toss up.

Nope season is over. Might as well clean house and start over.

Personally, as flawed as we may be, I think we're gonna beat Pitt, beat BC, and win at least one other to be 6-6. Just my own opinion.

But those of you saying this whole thread is crazy, will you revisit it if we finish 3-9? We've seen several flawed SU teams in recent years who could never quite put it together.

Should not use injuries as an excuse. NCS's injuries are worse than ours.

The chances of us losing out aren’t very high. None of the 6 teams left are all that much better than us. But the only team I think we are better than right now is BC, especially if Brown is out. So winning more than one would be an upset.

Ending the year with 7 losses would be rough but it isn’t like we haven’t seen similar this decade:

Babers has a four and five game losing streak under his belt to end seasons. Shafer lost 8 straight after starting 3-0 and the year before lost 4 and 5 in a row with a win sandwiched in between, so 9 of 10. Marrone lost five in a row and then lost the first two the next year. He won the next game vs an FCS then lost again, making it an 8 game losing streak vs FBS teams,
