A bit surprised there hasn’t been more talk about Willis and his sudden absence from the depth chart. It’s not a good sign that he’s already sidelined with an injury after just two games. It goes without saying that he needs to be a workhorse if we’re going to get it 6 or 7 wins or more. And while he may still meet that expectation, it’s concerning to see him sidelined this early.

This is a sound decision. Unlike Babers playing Sean Tucker in the Wagner game when he got banged up earlier that year. To literally add insult to injury, he put Tuck in the Wagner game to start the second half when we were up 49-0. I believe Babers wanted him to set the SU single-game rushing record. Instead, Tuck got banged up again in the second half and he was never 100% the rest of the year. He had ankle, calf and foot injuries and just didn't have the speed and explosiveness from the previous year.

Welcome to the world of a running back in football.

The clips someone said he got hurt on was in the first Q. He didn't look hurt to me the entire game and ran in the TD to make it 20-17. Who knows.

The way our offensive has looked there is no way this is precautionary. You play 12 games a season. This is a get right game. If he was close to healthy he would be out there.
Close to healthy? Come on. You aren't playing a kid against Colgate who is barely healthy or even healthy enough. Rest them and get them right for Clemson and the rest of the season. That is the smart play. And its not like your talking about an OL unit who needs to work together to get the kinks out. This is a RB who has played a lot previously. Rest him if needed.

I was looking for a Willis thread and couldn’t find it. My apologies.

Well, now we have one.

Any player can get hurt on any play at anytime. It's not any type of sign, just football. I find this post so strange

See your point but if there was a game to sit guys who are borderline this would be it. He's injured and not playing vs Colgate, it should not matter, if it DOES matter well the team is worse than many think.

Ideally, Willis would get 12 carries for 85-90 yards in the first half and sit the 2nd

The unit that needs reps is the OL, not worried in the least about Willis getting or not getting snaps against Colgate.

Most of these guys are injured in some way. Just because they're on the field doesn't mean they're anywhere close to 100%. Willis was slow to get up and took himself out of the game after that carry in the 1st quarter that went out of bounds, we needed him to push through to beat UConn, we don't need to push him this week.

There was a series in the UConn game (third quarter I think) where Willis missed a block on one play and got lost when he was the target of a screen play on the next one. He seemed to have been dazed.

That play happened when I yook a break to use the trough. When I turned around, he was in the mens room trying to wash his hands but no water was coming out. I walked over and put my foot on the bar to start the flow. When he was finished, I patted him on the helmet and said, "Now get back out there. We're gonna need ya later!"
That story is more, or less, true.

He came off the field right in front of us on sideline and he was shaking his head like a dog that just came out of the pool. He got his bell rung for sure. But that kid is the heart and soul
Of the team. He will be very vocal encouraging guys this week

Malachi James is hurt too and going to miss the game. If the 3rd string guys can't pass protect, we may need to find another Diamond Ferri in our secondary.

This
Is a game that gives the backups experience and a way to show the coaches in game playing ability!
