I was unimpressed by their preparation and thought they were a mess.

Not a fan of the drama that the Lawrence promotion created for them, and the talk track about "Bryant didn't lose it, Lawrence won it" seems really shaky to me since Bryant took them to the playoff and had proven he can lead them.

Really unimpressed by their punt returner, which eventually cost them bigly.

It was clear as day to me from the couch that they were going to easily wear us down with a commitment to the running game. We weren't going to stop that consistently. Trying to throw played into our hands and exposed their QBs to hits, and also slowed their offense.

And for a revenge game, I'd like to think we had a hand in this, but they really didn't seem to come out all that hot or focused.

I expected more from them.

They've got loads of talent and Dabo will right the ship, but that wasn't an inspiring effort by Clemson at all.

Had we an answer for the zone read we win easily. and its not like the QB killed us with it.

Completely agree. That did not look at all like the #3 ranked team in the country, and that's even when sunshine was in the game. They were VERY fortunate to survive that game. I see a slip up coming, maybe at FSU or BC.

I can't disagree with anything you said. Team has been a mess all week.
Clemson is never going undefeated without Bryant and all the chaos that has created in the locker room. The conference top brass should have thrown their support behind Syracuse on the chance they may go undefeated. But no, that would mean helping the Orange headed step-child, something the ACC hasn't done yet and I doubt will ever do.

Yeah any team that comes back like that yesterday definitely has chaos in the locker room.

We hit them at the right time to make a game of it and it was a tale of two halves, obviously.

They had a sh;storm of a week with the QB contoversy. It teed them up for a lack of focus upset special.

We almost pulled it off, but it was clear by midway through the 3rd quarter that their defense had sorted things out and our offense was going to need some luck to extend long drives and keep our D off the field and tiring from the wear down.

They found the run game as our defense tired and the collapse was on as we got worn down.

Their ability to switch in hockey-like line changes of 4 and 5 star players did what it should do...

At the end of the day, their depth of talent won the day.

Proud of our guys tho... They gave it everything they had and that's all you can ask.

Blueprint to beat Syracuse: Stellar defensive play forcing a lot of short posessions and/or 3 and outs will wear down our defense in the second half. Run the ball down our throats in the second half when our defense is too tired to make a tackle.

We'll likely not face a better defense the rest of the year... So I'd expect our O to do more consistently against other teams..

Hopefully, our D getting exposed to the run isn't a trend moving forward. However, with a much tougher schedule in the weeks again, no doubt our opponents are going to look long and hard at that strategy, and that 2nd half tape vs. Clemson. We have some really good DE who can get to the passer, but our LB's got exposed, and it's clearly a weakness on our team.

That’s a pretty accurate statement. Their D line has a legit 4 future NFLers on it and that isn’t even considering the rest of their defense.

I think the best defense on the field for the remaining games will be ours. We just need to prevent them getting gassed is all.

Agree. I have a feeling BC can use that blueprint to some level of success though.

I think the big issue was we tried to slow down the game to give our D a better chance and in doing so slowed down the offense which needed tempo to have a shot.. ying n yang.. it got is to a late 4th down play to win on both sides of the ball, both had to go wrong to lose.

Don’t really understand the difficulty with zone read and they didn’t do the read part. He was handing off every time. He wasn’t gonna keep it. Kind of a power read with fullback and our backers unless they were blitzing weren’t reading the play correctly and weren’t coming downhill. They were beat up and confused so as someone on here said why not put shy and Armstrong in for a few series to get Guthrie and Whitner a break. Get their wind back and sub back in. I’m telling u Shy has to be faster than whit or Guthrie. Zone isn’t difficult to read as a lb. Rb in on r side defensively speaking he is running to the middle or left. Swap it if he is on other side. Maybe they were to tired I guess but ur mLb should be toughest guy on the team and should crave contact each and very play. Ok they should act like our Qb. Dungeys mentality with Bullocks frame. We need a pit bull back there. Come down hill and smack some one. My opinion. Hope we find someone fast.

I love it when guys start off with, "With all due respect to Clemson" and then proceed to say they aren't as good as people say.

It reminds me of the following from Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby

Ricky Bobby: “with all due respect, Mr Dennit, I had no idea you had gotten experimental surgery to have your balls removed .”

Larry Dennit, Jr, (the race car owner): “What? What did you say?

Ricky Bobby: “Woah. woah, I said with all due respect.”

Larry Dennit, Jr, (the race car owner) “No, that doesn't mean you get to say whatever you want to say to me.”

Ricky Bobby: “Sure, sure as heck does. It’s in the Geneva Convention, look it up

That's exactly what I was going for.

We face one more strong defense the last 7 games, Notre Dame. The rest fall between ok(BC, NC State) and crappy (Wake, NC, Pitt). Clemson’s D is top 3 in the country. They knew they had to step up in the second half with a young QB playing and they did and that trickled down to their offense taking control on the ground.

Seriously? WOW. Yes, Lawrence did beat out Bryant. Sure, Bryant is the senior but you always play your best option to win and that was Lawrence. If Bryant stays he still plays in certain sets but Lawrence is the man and with 2 qbs plays are called to show his gull talent like rolling out and running as he is lightening fast. With Bryant gone, the play calling had to be timid with a 6th stringer now promoted to #2.

McDonough and blackledge were awesome as usual and blackledge had some balls and mentioned a few times that Bryant's decision is selfish and he is 100% right. He had his chance to impress and did for a little bit but in the end loss his job to a better player. But, he thinks he is an nfl qb and tne whacky ncaa rules will give him a full year at another school. A year that doesn't make any sense in the true spirit of NCAA fb, but is rather a one year tryout for the league. Its dumb.

As for thinking Clemson was a hot mess? Really? Imagine losing your 1A qb and only solid backup on wed of game week? Your post also downplays our performance implying we competed bc Clemson was disorganized. Clemson is coached beautifully and their knowledgeable fans stormed the field in celebration of a game that saw their last viable qb play after the qb of the future got hurt with a 6th string qb as the next option. The fans knew it was a team win, well coached.

Geeeez, Clemson wasnt unprepared; they rather, did a great job with the situation. Syracuse, a very good qb, Dline, coach, and playing with confidence.

Clemson “storms” the field after EVERY WIN.
Even vs FCS foes.

It had nothing to do with us, or them being knowledgeable, or a team win, or anything else you want to randomly ascribe to it.

It’s just what they do.

You’d think our fans would know this by now.
It’s the 3rd time it’s happened vs us in the past 5 years.

Ok, who cares about the storming the FIELD thing. Bottom line is, Clemson was well prepared yesterday given what was delt to them by a selfish player that got beat out at a FB factory by the best player , overall om the 18 class. Its comical to imply they were a mess and unprepared.
