Ok, who cares about the storming the FIELD thing. Bottom line is, Clemson was well prepared yesterday given what was delt to them by a selfish player that got beat out at a FB factory by the best player , overall om the 18 class. Its comical to imply they were a mess and unprepared.

Apparently, you did.
Or why else did you write that flowery horsecrap about their knowledgeable fans storming the field in celebration of blah blah blah?

You were wrong, and now you know better.
Or at least, should know better.
It’s ok to be wrong. You should be very used to it by now.

They have excellent coaching, superior talent and a fantastic home field advantage.
And Venables made some genius 2nd half adjustments, which almost totally shut down our O, and gave them the chance to win.

Blueprint to beat Syracuse: Stellar defensive play forcing a lot of short posessions and/or 3 and outs will wear down our defense in the second half. Run the ball down our throats in the second half when our defense is too tired to make a tackle.

That's actually a blueprint to beat anybody. Basically what every team in every football game tries to do.

I never said that. You did.
Or, rather, you said that other posters said that.

Seriously? WOW. Yes, Lawrence did beat out Bryant. Sure, Bryant is the senior but you always play your best option to win and that was Lawrence. If Bryant stays he still plays in certain sets but Lawrence is the man and with 2 qbs plays are called to show his gull talent like rolling out and running as he is lightening fast. With Bryant gone, the play calling had to be timid with a 6th stringer now promoted to #2.

McDonough and blackledge were awesome as usual and blackledge had some balls and mentioned a few times that Bryant's decision is selfish and he is 100% right. He had his chance to impress and did for a little bit but in the end loss his job to a better player. But, he thinks he is an nfl qb and tne whacky ncaa rules will give him a full year at another school. A year that doesn't make any sense in the true spirit of NCAA fb, but is rather a one year tryout for the league. Its dumb.

As for thinking Clemson was a hot mess? Really? Imagine losing your 1A qb and only solid backup on wed of game week? Your post also downplays our performance implying we competed bc Clemson was disorganized. Clemson is coached beautifully and their knowledgeable fans stormed the field in celebration of a game that saw their last viable qb play after the qb of the future got hurt with a 6th string qb as the next option. The fans knew it was a team win, well coached.

Geeeez, Clemson wasnt unprepared; they rather, did a great job with the situation. Syracuse, a very good qb, Dline, coach, and playing with confidence.
You didn't realize our resident Clemson fan agreed with me, I take it.

As for the Bryant thing, I disagree with the take 900%. Dabo handled it poorly. Calling Bryant selfish is too simplistic.

There are many ways to beat teams. This is the best way to beat Syracuse.

Yeah, I don't get the selfish part. I will say that Bryant was wrong to call it a "slap in the face", and that he "was never given a chance". He sounds like a millenial trophy generation whiner. You're a damn good QB, but you got beat by someone who outperformed you. Nothing is owed to you in the real world.
But if your goal is to make it to the NFL, especially to get drafted into the NFL, you need to be playing. Bryant has his entire future to think about, and his families future to think about. You don't get drafted often by sitting the bench. If his goal is the NFL, and financial security for his loved ones, how the hell is it selfish to go somewhere where you'll play, and have a shot at realizing your dreams?

I don't know. He took them to the playoffs, and was a backup on a championship team.

And you mean to tell me a guy that just showed up and played backup QB for 4 games "earned" the job over him?

2 good teams and 1 was better. It is what it is? Both should hold heads high after that epic battle.

I disagree that Dabo handled it poorly. He could have waited until yesterday and then benched Bryant and killed his chance to transfer. He did him a favor.

"Putting in the time and doing the right things" means nothing in today's football world. I hate it but that's the way it is. He was a good teammate and he helped guide us to the playoff last year but we were predicable. He had 13 total td passes all of last year. You can't win a national championship not being able to throw the football.

Kelly was still going to play a lot. Everyone knew that and everyone was fine with it except Bryant. He had a chance to win the job back our OC said that immediately after the announcement.

Dabo handled it the right way. If Bryant would have stayed and accepted his role or left without issue, we wouldn't even be having this discussion.

Agreed. We have no idea what really went on behind closed doors, but the end result is that Bryant gets to play one more year, albeit somewhere other than Clemson.

Yes.

Lawrence was 49 of 76 for 693 yards 9 td's 2 int's Passer rating 174.9
Bryant was 35 of 53 for 456 yards 2 td's 1 int Passer rating 147.0

Both put up good numbers, but Clemson wants to throw the ball.
They ran the ball much more with Bryant in, because he just doesn't have the arm Lawrence has.

It's been said that Dabo knows he can't beat Bama with dual threat, and that Lawrence, being a better passer (and he can run a bit) was Clemsons chance to take out Bama if they get there.

I wish we still had him but I understand him leaving.

I don’t think Clemson is the #3 team in the country right now, but I think we’re very good. I don’t think we were a mess either. I just think y’all have a better team than you think. Maybe it’s matchups or a scheme thing, but for two years in a row we’ve played very competitive games without a bunch of flukey turnovers.

Against TAMU, I left impressed with their defense and their stadium but I thought their offense benefited from uncalled holding and a lot of chuck passes that were completed. Not this game, though. Very proud that we won a hard fought game.

Good game. Guess I’ll be back around next year.

I won’t hang around here much longer but as a Clemson fan who has watched every snap each guy has played at least twice... yes. Lawrence absolutely earned the job. He’s clearly the better QB, and more importantly, the offense is clearly more productive with him taking the snaps.

I know people outside our fan base want to give credit to KB for the team record last year, but we didn’t win because of him or the offense. We were somewhere around #40 in offense last year... in both stats and advanced metrics.

Spot on and Lawrence can scoot too. Very fast and elusive.

Why not, TD may have been close to erasing 3 years if ED's performance with a good camp. He was obviously right on ED's heels coming out of camp having played zero games and thats a good thing.

Thus, not a crazy idea that the #1 overall recruit in 2018 would grab the starting spot. A kid NFL scouts say would be the #1 pick this year.

CUTater? Sounds to me like you're more of a CUHater.

Do you think Wake is a joke or something? That will be a very tough game for Syracuse as well. I'm picking Wake for the upset.

They are decent on O and bad on D. The start a freshman who has talent but likes to throw INT.

I wouldn’t say “joke” but they definitely took a step back this year
