What I do know about Coach Shafer is he understands Syracuse, the demographic, and its fans. If he can win early and hang in there, the fans are going to love this guy. I'm not saying he has to go 10-2 but a bowl game first year would really get Shafer moving in the right direction. Marrone was a NYC guy but I don't think he understood Syracuse all that well.
