To be clear, I am not calling for Treanor to be fired. Certainly not after just one season. But, there are huge concerns:

1. The team always sleepwalks out of the gate. This is a coaching issue.
2. This team had huge offensive star power, injuries or not, and couldn't muster more than a pea shooter offense. Treanor needs to consult with Gait over the Summer.
3. Not her fault - treanor inherited zero goalies.
4. The defense, in fact the whole team, showed no improvement over the season.

Next year is a measuring stick.

Some of this is growing pains of a young new HC.

She needs to get rid of the 2 women ISO offense. But the penalties, dropped passes, and bad communication on D killed us in all of our games even in games we won (ND, FairField, Stony Brook). Losing in the Quarter Finals with the talent we have is just unacceptable, she needs to hit the PORTAL HARD this off season.

Don't know what I expected for KT as her first season as HC but this certainly wasn't it. Of course the injuries didn't help her case any. But like OrangeinBoston said, it's no excuse with all of the talent we have. Defliese isn't off the hook either because that defense has been Swiss cheese the ENTIRE year. Atrocious. A mess. There's no other way to put it than we better be bringing in some major help on the defensive side no if's, and's, or but's.

The way this team came out and played today is just inexcusable and I don't know if thats a coaching issue or player issue. They played like this often when Gait was the coach as well and it would absolutely irk me beyond belief. I thought that Kayla would be able to clean up all of their flaws but I haven't seen it yet, if i'm completely honest.

I might get s*** for saying this but I'm not even sure half of the roster cares about/or wants to win. So if I'm Kayla, I am scouring high and low to find the right kind of players/athletes that fit the kind of system she wants to run and get them here fast. She has already done this for the really talented '23 class, but that won't help us next year obviously. I don't care if we lose some players in the process, but I want players here that play hard, play with a chip on their shoulder every single game and most importantly play to win. If they are not here with a championship mentality, then they can go. They also need to do a better job at discerning talent in the portal, because this past season was an absolute bust.

P.S.-- wouldn't mind snagging another draw control specialist as another option when things aren't working for Mashewske.

Agree with many - with the firepower on this team, there's no excuse for a performance like today . It's on the coach. It's on the players.

Northwestern came to play and to take care of business.

Stony brook lost, but they came to play against NC and left it all out there ...pushed NC to the wall with a lot less to work with.

I'm all for great team chemistry, but honestly, there often seems to be a bit too much fun happening, a bit too laid back when the team really needs to be focussed and dig in.

Some questions definitely raised as Spillano (sp?) who was rumored as the top candidate for the job has Stony Brook going as far as Cuse. Did Wildhack make the popular decision but not the right one?

SU's defense has been questionable for a number of years and its deficiencies were sometimes masked by very good goaltending- though clearly not this year. ...Maybe time for a new defensive coordinator?

And I am not sure the KTrain made the best use of her personnel on offense but I think all the injuries and the incomplete recoveries of Hawryschuk and Carney make this a more difficult assessment.

Relax and see what happens with transfers as far as portal newbies are concerned.

Why all this vitriol regarding Kayla’s first ever HC experience. Her top AC on O has limited coaching experience as well.

They are both bright lacrosse minds and top shelf players. They are recruiting well as a team.

The D Coach is the most experienced of the 3 coaches.

I am sure the staff will analyze this season and make plans moving forward!

Today was embarrassing. No other way to put it. Showing up for a quarterfinal game unready and unprepared to play is pathetic.
Losing Emma Tyrelll (along with others) was absolutely devastating. I honestly think she is the most complete player on the team. She dodges, feeds, finishes, and rides better than any middle with have had in quite sometime. She is also a beast on the draw circle.- I know that every team has injuries, but the injuries this team has endured the past 2 years has been ridiculous. A good percentage of these injuries were to impact players.

KT is very good coach and recruiter. There were some growing pains for sure this year that were exacerbated by playing a stout OOC schedule and playing in the ACC. I think that she is the right coach for the job, but this team needs better overall team speed if they are going to compete with UNC, MD, and BC.
