At the Drumlins golf tournament. Not sure what to expect and I dont want to show up unprepared. Just a tour and watch practice but then an autograph/hangout session with the players. What are best items to have autographed? Etc...just not my thing. Ive never been thrilled or felt the need to ask those deemed worthy for an autograph. I just dont get it. However, I dont wanna be disrespectful to the players, I love those guys bc theyre playing for the S. Ive been a ST holder for 37 years and im 47. I used to cook food for the team the night before all homegames for years. Ive been a chef at SU fraternities and seen alot of cool stuff-player related- that shouldnt be talked about...and now Im nervous to go on a formal tour of the Melo Center and meet the players.

What should I take to be autographed etc?

Have them sign a basketball and call it a day. Easy.

Call ahead. Ask what’s appropriate.

They sold you tickets when you were 10?

My parents bought them in my name for my 10th birthday up until 18th. Now I pay for them.-my tix and parents tix- Football and bball I had to sit in the endzone for football and 318 for basketball bc I was under 18. That was the rule they told us.
Kinda ironic bc I switched back to endzone in football at age 33ish and wouldnt trade 249 A for anything.

So would it be acceptable to bring my tattoo gear and have a player sign my buttcheek?
I think yes. But what player would you want to tattoo your ass? Trust is key here. I believe we can trust J. Carlos.

My vote is J. Carlos

I used to represent “parents” in local criminal courts who did the same thing with cable and NIMO bills.

wow very interesting! Thank you for the reply!
The little things that are so interesting to hear depending on your line of work.

Funny story…….. to me anyway. About 15 years ago, I was in Cuse for Christmas with my wife, 2 sons and a daughter.

one day after Christmas, I decided we were going to go exploring around SU and see what we could see. My wife and daughter decided to go shopping instead. Me and the 2 boys drove to the Dome and went in and looked around. Then we drove to the Melo center and checked the doors but they were closed and locked. We were disappointed to say the least. We tried every door, even to Manley, everything locked. We went back to the car to drive home.

Just then, a family walked up to the door and waited. I decided we should go wait there too. A few minutes later someone came and opened the door and we tailgated right in with the family. It turned out the family had won a tour of the melo center and everyone assumed we were with them. We got a full tour, the training rooms, the weight rooms, the coaches offices, the film room. Then we got to watch practice for about 30 minutes! It was awesome.

Two points about practice:
1) JB wasn’t even there while the individual drills were going on. Then when the team drills started, JB showed up and he was the only one who said a word (Very loudly)
2) there were two kids shooting on the second court during team drills. I later figured out that was Buddy and Jimmy.

My boys and I still remember this day and recall it often. Sure helped to cement their SU fandom, although it didn’t need a lot of help. My wife and daughter are still pissed they missed out!

I miss the ability to go and view practices. I first met Tomcat in Manley at practices. Also met Mason, who sadly no longer posts here (or who only posts on the pay side).

Legendary story for you and the boys! This story right here was 1 of the reasons i started this. Any family or whoever can tailgate in there with me friday at 3:30.
Just say the secret words, hey penguin?? sounding like a question not a greeting...
And be ready for a tattoo..

Noone has a preference on tattoo artist amongst the players on our BBall team?

This question should be on the boys podcast?
What happened to dabigggest and chopppa?
J. Carlos can tattoo me. However, Dabigggest is the last player id let tattoo me...

A basketball works. Here's a non SU basketball autograph story. Many years ago, my nephew went to LA on a business trip and took his wife. Twice a year his company had a banquet with a famous sports figure as speaker. On the way to the Beverly Hills Hilton, he stopped at a sporting goods store to buy a basketball. When they arrived at the hotel, he had to help with some pre-banquet arrangements, leaving his wife alone. She knew absolutely nothing about sports. Nada. She also knew no one there and decided to take a seat in the lobby to pass the time. She sat down next to an elderly gentleman. They started talking. During their conversation, he mentioned that his wife had recenty died and how much he missed her. He also repeatedly mentioned how much he lived for his grandchildren. She couldn't get over how nice this gentleman was and how much he missed his wife. Their conversation lasted nearly an hour at which time one of the banquet organizers came out and said to the gentleman: "Mr Wooden, would you like to join us inside". My nephew was beside himself that his wife (and not him) had an extended conversation with John Wooden. His wife had no clue who this man was. John Wooden likely appreciated the normal, candid conversation. Oh, I mentioned a basketball. They left with one that was autographed by John Wooden and said "Best wishes, Janine and Dan" (Not Dan and Janine).
