Wonder if Quadir would have this much fun at Cuse this year...

They will likely be dancing in March. 17-1 in conference play. Which isn’t saying much lol.

I don't think Q has an NBA future without a three-point shot, but running him off the team was a major lapse in judgement. And to get ahead of it, lots of players skipped class over the years and didn't see that level of punishment. Like it or not, this is pro sports now.

Why didn’t any other P5 school pick him up?

I don’t disagree he has talent

Bad grades. Not to mention the famous press conference where he interrupted Red because he wanted to leave and celebrate and needed to fulfill media obligations.

This board has overrated Copeland more than any player I can remember. He's scoring 9 a game while playing 21 minutes a game for McNeese State. He makes some flashy plays, but he's also a turnover waiting to happen. He averaged two turnovers a game last year in 22 mins at Syracuse and now almost three a game in 21 mins at McNeese State. He also shoots less than 20% from 3. What is the fascination with this player?

Interesting that you leave out his 4.4 APG and 1.3 SPG in that limited time.

Closer to 10 points a game and 6 assists in Conference play. He didn’t become a starter until the Conference schedule began.

This is true, but he also would have been our best player had he been able to stay here which says a lot.

Right that was my point.

Yes it is.
That means colleges should forget about education and educational requirements and recognize that they are running pro teams.
No more "college teams."
These are teams merely wearing the name of the college that (mostly indirectly) pays them.
Classes, degrees, education should be strictly optional.

Jaquan Carlos, who everyone here bashes constantly averages 0.7 APG less and 0.3 SPG less in only about five more minutes a game. He also shoots 32% from 3.

If Copeland is such an asset why exactly is he playing "limited" time at McNeese State?

You are probably right, but if we are going to lose, I would have more fun watching Q do it.

Five more minutes per game is more than you are letting on.

Q still has a high turnover rate - even higher than it was at SU, which is part of why he still sits a bunch. Another reason is that McNeese has a decent distributor who steps up as needs dictate. But Q also draws more fouls than Jaquan and is more proficient inside the three-point line (as he should be, given his size).

What's the debate that Qs better than Carlos? No brainier. That said Q dug his own grave here and carried himself like he was a lot better than he actually is.

He is a showman. I loved watching him as he drove me crazy.

I loved watching him initially. However, my lasting memory of him is yakking at the refs while the ball was going the other way. Happened all the time in the latter stage of the season. I hated it.

When he hit the portal, I seem to recall a story naming a number of the big schools who reached out to him. Clearly, after they looked under the hood and kicked the tires, they backed off.

There is a reason he ended up at McNeese State
