I’m still really curious what the deal was yesterday with Woody and the lack of playing time. I don’t want to speculate but it was just odd to say the least, even though Braswell did play well.

I think that's what it was. Woody has tantalizing potential, and has produced at times. He was the first sub in for Guerrier when he picked up his 4th at the beginning of the second half. But when Pitt went on that run to really cut into our lead to start off that half, JB did what JB does -- he subbed in a more experienced guy that he's more comfortable with. And Braswell produced for a stretch, so JB stayed with him.

I don't think there's any more to it than that.

Much better rebounder.

I don't disagree -- I LOVE Woody's potential and wish he would play more. But knowing how JB coaches, it wasn't a surprise given that Braswell had a hot hand for an important stretch of the game.

Based on lack of practice, I don't think JB intended to play Woody at all, but when the rebounding numbers early in the second hald started to turn south I think he decided to give him some run. The fact that he was pulled after three minutes leads me to believe he was not ready to go.

Can't criticize the choice of Braswell from results yesterday. First time in his career that he was a factor. Good for him and good call by the coach ( at least for that subject)

Well, except for - NOT letting Braswell play at the end of the game. Inexplicably.

Braswell plays like a SG not a . He played 16 minutes with 1 rebound. What's Jimmy's classic line? A dead man could get 1 rebound.

I saw some info on Woody's health situation in Mike Waters' recent (1/19/2021) article:

"Girard and Boeheim were not the only players to test positive during the team’s December pause. Jim Boeheim has recently said that freshman forward Woody Newton had to remain in isolation longer than some of the other players."

It's true that Braswell does not get a lot of rebounds. His season high was 5 in 16 minutes vs. Notre dame. He also got 4 each vs. Duke (in 17 minutes) and vs. Pitt (in 8 minutes), so I think there may be hope for the future. I wonder how much his leg problems have held him back so far.

A little surprised JB didn't put him in the last 3 minutes when it was out of reach.
