Worst season in 20 years

What was GRobs record against FCS teams? Take away Fran’s 2 FCS wins, he is below .500 against FBS teams.

What was GRob’s record against teams with 2 wins on the season? 2-0. The worst team that GRob ever lost to was a 4-win Washington team. The Mac losses were indefensible… but Marrone had a much easier schedule (except 2012).
Ok Mr. Robinson’s child.

I looked at Sports Reference SRS rating (not the best way to analyze of course) to see compare this team to *other* past SU teams

2025 : -4.23
2020: -12.92
2005: -10.95

This team according to SRS was in the same tier as 2009 and 2016 teams

In addition, this was SU's toughest SOS since 2001

At least with those other miserable seasons we had a QB who could throw the ball forward. This is the least fun I’ve ever had watching SU football.

The Tennessee game was OK. We never threatened them.

The UConn game was mostly terrible even though we won.

Clemson was obviously amazing.

The rest of the season was just a total nightmare.

Also, can I just say, everybody needs to grow up. We beat a 9 win UConn team, and we beat a 7-5 bowl bound Clemson team at Clemson. By no metric can this be the worst season ever.

Don’t take this the wrong way, I’m disappointed too, but people forget how bad we’ve been in the recent past.

Worst loss since 1895 and getting blown out at home by a 1-10 team. Those two games alone make this season historically a trainwreck.

I will say it again: losing your starting QB is always bad. But it shouldn't mean the team-wide disaster that we saw. As has been said about other SU coaches in the past, "it isn't that we lost. It's HOW we lost"

We have had to say that too often this year.

Nailed it. They whiffed on having a viable backup QB but it can't happen again.

It amazes me how we can have the worst offense in history for 8 straight games and people are asking for Nixon to come back.
He is a one trick pony who has to have the right QB every game in order to be effective.
I want someone who can still score points and move the ball if someone gets hurt.
If he wants to run that kind of offense he needs to be in the NFL where they have QB's like McCord on their practice squads.
We need an offense that can adjust from game to game depending on the opponents weaknesses and strengths.

Sadly, when you look at the last 25 years of coaching, we had exactly 3 years where the program was run competently (by Marrone). Everyone else has been a joke. We’ve had a few good coordinators here and there. But mostly 20+ years of incompetence. But we have never had an entire staff as bad as this one.

You literally couldn’t make worse coaching hires than we made.

To think we could have had Chesney.

I'm starting to wonder if Fran is too loyal, but those around him arn't. If Erob was as loyal to Fran as Fran is to Erob, Erob would volunteer to take a demotion. At lest Nixon can point to last year.

I sure hope the coaching staff quit on this season around game 4 and spent all of their time recruiting and analyzing potential portal adds - because that's what it looked like.

well to finish last in a crappy division ... you really have to embrace the suck. build a suck culture.

I have been a fan since around 2005, through all the ups and downs. Despite all the star ratings and recruiting wins, this season has been the least competitive in my memory. There were probably years with fewer wins, but this season seemed uniquely incompetent. Let's hope for brighter days ahead. Go Cuse!
You must have forgotten the GRob years... I think this year feels like the worse...because of the expectations coming off last season..the starting out 3-1...and then losing 8 straight games...with no chance of winning any of them...with no QB. We had no offense...teams knew we couldn't pass..All of those things made it seem loike the worse season in 20 years...but there were some that were worse...IMO

The last 8 games getting blown out every game has to be the worst since Ben took over.

2020 was Covid; I’m still surprised college football was played at all.

Don't get me wrong, the Robinson era was hopelessly dreadful. But we didn't look this embarrassing. (e.g., we could get the play call in on time and weren't starting a lacrosse walk-on at quarterback).

Determined before the season or now that it’s ended. Because the teams expected to be a lot better when the season started, were not. And then we top it off getting pimp smacked by a 1 win team. I’m not sure our SOS once it’s recalculated at the end of the season is going to be that “tough”. It wasn’t an easy schedule but it wasn’t a difficult one once it was played out.

I get that we lost our starting QB, and that our player analysis of the backup was wildly off base. I just can't for the life of me understand why we had nobody at QB3, QB4 and QB5. We actually started a walk-on lacrosse player... at a power-conference school, after spending millions upon millions on this sport.

I mean yeah. No way to sugar coat it. Horrible season. But we’ll sign the top ranked recruiting class we’ve probably ever had next week. We’ll sign a good portal class, Fran will make some much needed changes on staff. And with a weaker schedule next year. Angeli back. We’ll be optimistic about next year when summer camp starts. Calling it now

Yeah, that is a major failing. All but Jakari (who Fran retained) were his recruits. He owns that disaster 100%. All credit for Angeli but all blame for the rest of it.

I don't want to hear about DART or anything else. 9 months to go before next season.
