Man just got the schedule and Doug has his work cut out for him. Really tough row to hoe if he can win 5 -6 out of this mess he should be given an extension. Syracuse fans are really taking it in the rear this year.

At Missouri and only 5 home games.

Yep, just got the email about it. Wow. TERRIBLE.

I'm not going to renew my season tickets. Goodbye section 308, Row B. I'll just buy tickets during the season during one of their many offers for tickets that will be less than the season ticket price.

It is hard to believe we couldnt work something better than this out. I guess playing at Missou is better than playing at OU. Still i just cant believe that we couldnt pull something better than this off. We had better bring our A game with us next year

Playing @Mizzou is better than playing 2 FCS. I don't think this is a huge deal because this is the very last time this will ever happen. It does suck for the season ticket holders, but the home schedule is about to improve in a big way anyway.

I do feel bad for the season ticket holders, you never want to see just 5 home games, but I don't see this as something that's going to happen regularly. Unfortunately, there weren't many teams with openings on their schedule, and Mizzou is probably the best mix of a challenge and not setting up for a complete massacre (I hope).

I have to believe we could have figured out another bcs team to play at home. Leads me to believe we may have actually believed Marion was going to bring Boise into the mix this year

Dorial Green-Beckham...$#%@

Bad circumstances made worse by the decision to screw up the schedule with the USC games. I was hoping we would at least get a return game for doing this, but I didn't see a mention of that in the DO article.

Second year in a row our chances for a bowl game are severely hurt by scheduling issues. That is not a good reflection on the AD department but you can make a good argument Dr Gross had little choice regarding the USC series given our home attendance in recent years and the amount of money the Meadowlands people were willing to guarantee.

I wonder if the Wyoming screw job has hurt our reputation and made it harder to schedule?

ditto- doubt ill even take the trip to jersey for usc-

marrone couldnt find a way to win last year with a real weak schedule-this years may cost him his job- i dont see many if any wins-

In the grand scheme of things, does it really matter who we played?

We are replacing a stout WVU squad with a stout Missouri squad. I'm predicting a double digit loss against either team.

Agree with all of this Tom, except the last line. While not an everyday occurrence, games being bought out happens fairly regularly, no? Or is there a twist to the Wyoming story I didn't hear (or more likely, don't remember)?

Epic fail by SU and the AD. Don't say USC would be in the Dome. Don't guarantee that any year with a Meadowlands game would still have 6 home games. If you want to blame everyone else then do something about it and sue the BE for damages. Otherwise and admit you messed up and screwed the fans.

I was thinking about it specifically regarding Nevada. We were trying to get them to play us here in 2012 and then play them there sometime in the future. We did this with Wyoming (if I remember correctly, we were in a schedule bind then too and they come through for us), played the game at home and then cancelled out of the return game. Wyoming was really unhappy about it. Nevada is joining the MWC in 2012, which already features Wyoming as a member.

"It's just horrible, and it shows no class (by Syracuse)," Wyoming football coach Joe Glenn told the Tribune-Eagle.
"We signed the contract, and we went out there last year to play them. It doesn't show much character on their part."

I don't know if the Wyoming thing is a factor in what seems to be an annual issue with scheduling. Yes, there have been extenuating circumstances but we always seem to be the last school in the conference to get our schedule out, we always seem to be grasping at straws. At some point, one would think we would be the Big East school that had their schedule squared away early and was all set. That never seems to happen.

Again, I want to know about a return game for visiting Missouri. Do we get one? Rutgers was in the same bind we were in, and was able to schedule a home and home with Arkansas. Heck, we talked with Arkansas ourselves. Missouri was in just as much of a bind as we were in. If we agreed to a) play them there and b) not require a return game at the Dome, this is completely unacceptable. I hope that the return game was just inadvertently not mentioned in the PS and DO articles. Sadly, I do not expect this to be the case.

Mismanaging these types of agreements leads to further problems in future years. You can't agree to schedule a BCS school in a one game contract at their venue. It just leads to playing 5 home games again some year in the future.

Maybe our "return" game with Missouri will fill another game in the Meadowlands? Just kidding... I hope not.

Your confidence bubbles over!

Bad job by TGD. This is replacing the TCU game. We knew they were leaving in early Oct no excuse not to have filled their spot with a non BCS home game. Even if we did get into the ACC for 2012, you then just buyout the Stony Brook game and call it a day.

Missouri better be paying us 1 million dollars and that money should be used to subsidize the season tickets for SU season ticket holders. I have 4 season tickets I don't use and will renew them just because, but I am more upset that Dr. Gross couldn't get Mizzou to come to the Dome in the future, and if he took a 1 and done series IT BETTER be a high money amount. I can cut Dr. Gross a little bit of slack as this will be a transition year, but I said earlier the Wyoming screwing would come back to haunt us. No mid-majors from outside the East would agree to a 1-1 series with us without the first game being at that their place for what Dr. Gross did to Wyoming. 4 of the 5 OOC come from BCS conferences WOW. I am excited to be playing the Pac-12, SEC, and Big 10 x2 next year. I believe we can win 6 games next year SB, @Min/NW, UConn, RU, USF, Temple.

Are you guys serious? Teams leaving the conference is out of the Athletic Departments control. The Big East compounded the problem by trying to lure in Boise State and Temple at the last minute which might have given us another home game. People would have torn up Dr. G if he scheduled another FCS school. So what did you want them to do? Other schools don't have to schedule Cuse. They want home games too. And as an Athletic Dept you don't want to have to shell out big bucks to bring in Mizzou. The USC game in NYC was done a long time ago. And they probably wouldn't have come to the dome anyway. You can't back out on that now. It's a crazy time in college football with conference realignment. I give them a pass on this one. Too many things out of their control. To make it better, it would be nice to see the Athletic Dept give each football season ticket holder tickets to 2 nonconference home basketball games as a "sorry" that we couldn't have done better. But we tried.

I lay this at the feet of the Big East conference. Schedules are in flux because the league is in flux. We've seen it for more than a decade. I'll be glad when SU is out of this mess.

Don't Fret About Mizzo

First of all we have history on our side, we have never lost to Missouri, never!:p

Second the Tigers weren't undefeated last year, they lost five games including to a team we had beaten just 9 months previous.

Agree...2012 is a mulligan type of schedule as far as I'm concerned. We're going to the ACC so we have to take a few lumps along the way before we're finally out of the big east but in the big picture it's well worth it.
