Wow talk about a tough schedule

Still don't see the big deal. If Cuse's rep was ruined over not wanting to go to Wyoming, we wouldn't have gotten a long long look from the Big 10 or an ACC invite. My only regret is that we have to suffer through this pennace time because of some stupid 27 month exit rule put into place because of people getting an adverse reaction to what BC did.

What's also ironic is I remember posts talking about us having too many home games in a row. I get the feeling with some of our fans that Gross could hand them gold brinks and they'd complain about the weight.
It didn't hurt us with the ACC it hurt us with mid-majors not wanting to sign 1-1 with us without the first game being at their place. Why would a team like Nevada agree to play us at the Dome this year when we bought out of the return game to Wyoming. They are probably more hesitant to agree to any deal because we screwed Wyoming. Thus, we shouldn't complain about teams from mid-majors not doing home and homes with us.

Why do we need to travel to mid-majors in general? I mean it's frigging WYOMING. High altitude, no fans, no recruits, no nothing. We're going to the ACC, I don't see UNC playing at Western Kentucky.

It's an anomaly that could have been avoided. Like Kingotto asked, what were we doing in October when TCU announced they were out? This didn't just happen last week. Plenty of deals were made since October. Were we hoping the BE would take care of us? :bang:

If you would have told me back then that the result would be a road game against Mizzou, I would have been fine with it. I don't sweat the small stuff like most on this board. It is what it is, it isn't a disaster (like 2 FCS' would have been or playing a non-winnable roadie) and its a road trip to a place I've never been.

Things get to normal next year when we are in a real conference.

Again, I want to know about a return game for visiting Missouri. Do we get one? Rutgers was in the same bind we were in, and was able to schedule a home and home with Arkansas. Heck, we talked with Arkansas ourselves. Missouri was in just as much of a bind as we were in. If we agreed to a) play them there and b) not require a return game at the Dome, this is completely unacceptable. I hope that the return game was just inadvertently not mentioned in the PS and DO articles. Sadly, I do not expect this to be the case.

Mismanaging these types of agreements leads to further problems in future years. You can't agree to schedule a BCS school in a one game contract at their venue. It just leads to playing 5 home games again some year in the future.
Mizzou gets high marks for scheduling a 2012 game against the Syracuse Orange that features no return date, no game in a dome that isn't the Georgia Dome, no tit-for-tat, no trip up north of D.C. [/freezes to death just thinking about it], no road challenge and no departure from the state. That's how you do it. New SEC East associates Georgia and Florida especially like your style.

thats what they said about our 5 game home schedule a few years ago-

you ok with 5 home games every 3 years or so

and the girls have a better shot at a bowl than us because of it-along with the recruiting and extra practice that comes with a bowl game

Don't make me get all holier-than-thou on you. 5 home games and a 6th which is 3.5 hours down the road. I'll help you pack your car with all tailgating essentials.

Again, this is the last year ever you will need to be concerned with 5 home games.

UVA and Ole Miss have recently completed home and homes with Wyoming. We don't need to travel to mid-majors but its low class to buy out of a game with a mid-major and then expect when you have a hole in your schedule like we do to get another one to agree to come your place when they know you will buyout the return game.

Epic fail by SU and the AD. Don't say USC would be in the Dome. Don't guarantee that any year with a Meadowlands game would still have 6 home games. If you want to blame everyone else then do something about it and sue the BE for damages. Otherwise and admit you messed up and screwed the fans.

Sent from my DROIDX

I'm not debating that it's unfortunate that we will only have 5 home games in the Dome, but how will SU admitting that they "screwed" the fans help anything? The only thing that I would say is that they should have at least negotiated a home/home series with a BCS team, even if they had to suck it up and only have 5 games in the Dome for this one season. Right now we don't know if that happened or not.

Also, I think it's interesting to note that SU (and Pitt) decided to make the move to jump to the ACC, which has really set all of this Big East schedule madness in motion (was WVU leaving right now until Pitt and SU "forced" their hand? Was TCU bailing on the BE? I think not...). I don't think that the move to the ACC was a mistake... but it has had some unintended consequences. Now we're living with those consequences in the short term...

How did I know Eeyore was going to chime in. Man up Jeremy. We aren't playing the NFC East. As Bees says, Temple and Mizzou are an easier two-some than TCU and WVU.

Maybe we can schedule a CNY high school team just for you.
The problem has nothing to do with who we are playing but the fact that we have 7 road games.

That is an insult to injury great work Dr. Gross.

If we are worthy of a bowl game, we can beat a team like Mizzou on the road. This isn't Oklahoma. The couple of pre-season Top 25 polls I took a look at, they weren't included. Yes, it will be a tough task, and we will be underdogs, but let's not start writing off Ls already. Thats what losers do. (Ok, USC is an exception). Otherwise, go 4-3 in our conference, in which nobody is unbeatable, beat Stony Brook, and win 1 of our 4 BCS non-conference games. Even if we go 3-4 in conference, would you be shocked if we beat Minnesota and Northwestern? I wouldn't. Its not as gauntlet-like as you make it out to be.

I dont disagree about a bowl game being in reach though I do feel the OOC is a gauntlet for this team. Were talking about a team that went 5*-7 last year and lost to two horrible teams in UConn and South Florida. We cant beat Uconn on the road but were going to win at Mizz?

And yet rutgers was able to get a H-H with Arkansas. Others too made deals since October. No return by Missouri. It's always poor old SU just like it was a few years ago when we had 5. Poor poor SU and some here keep making excuses. We are always reactive instead of proactive.

Do I need to help you pack for Jersey too? Get in the car and come down.

How dare you expect the same as Rutgers, Kaiser will be here to yell at you shortly.

If we were always reactive we probably don't get an ACC bid.

We better be able to get 6 wins. Hell, this schedule fiasco just watered down the schedule for Marrone. I went back and looked at last year and how things would look this year.

WVU > Missouri
TCU > Temple

Agreed Bees it seems as if Syracuse always plays MR Nice. This one is on Gross simply put he blew it. Still he gets a pass in my book for getting us to the ACC. I would sign up for 5 home games three years in a row if that is what it took to get the heck out of this mess of a conf.

Absolutely. Much easier games IMO.

Would have been nice to have them at the Dome in a few years oh well no shock there god forbid we get a return game who are we Rice, awful job.

Listen im in for 6 seasons every year and im lucky if i make it to one home game. I will be in Jersey this year and also plan on Missou which is a great place to watch a game in Nov weather should be mid 50's could be in the 70s and perfect college town. As to Jersey i look forward to meeting you and the rest of the gang introducing you to my Dad and our group. I dont mind this schedule and do think that Doug can get to six wins with it.

I wonder if Missouri is coming here or nyc for hoops as part of the deal? I wouldn't like it at all if that did happen.

Crappy non BCS teams shouldn't expect 1 and 1s. If we offer at SU, at your place, at SU most would accept and there is no threat of SU not showing up at their place.

As a SU fan this is very friendly. 5 home games, 2 close games in NJ, 1 close game in Philly, a nice trip to Tampa, and a not so bad trip to Minny. That is 10 out of 12 games people should be able to get out to.

Eh I doubt it, though i wouldnt mind playing them at the dome in Bball.

SU oughta be able to parlay this Big East cluster *%*# into the threat of a lawsuit that will get them into the ACC in 2013. There are certainly damages from BE mismanagement.

Our BCS dance card is filled up for the time being, since we'll probably only be playing 1 BCS team OOC a season once we join the ACC.
