Wow talk about a tough schedule

How did I know that I would wake up and find a thread b*tching about the schedule? Shocking.

Its a one-year anomaly while we make the transition to a real league. Big deal. It certainly beats playing a tomato can at the Dome in front of 30k strong.

I would hope that CNY, only getting to see their home team 5 times in the Dome, will now make a better effort to get down to Jerz to see their beloved Orange play the Trojans in early Sept. That's what football starved fan bases do.

Bring on the Tigers -- I love that my school takes on all comers. I swear if it was up to this board we'd be playing 3 FCS' this year just to get to a minor bowl game.

i will be renewing my season tickets and will be at the meadowlands as well. believe it or not, if by next season i do not hear about an upgrade in facilities, that will cause me NOT to renew.that is more of indicator to me of where the program is headed. if no upgrade, that only means that sth are being played for fools and being exploited.

When were 4-8 and Marrone's head is being called for by the BOT lets see how much you love the schedule again.

I give those crazy SU schedule makers credit, they have stepped it up a notch schedule wise so let's hope the players and staff will get even more excited and keep committed to their off season programs because this season is going to be a tough one. Marrone got what he wanted now it's time for them to show us what they can do. I'll do my part and show up yelling like hell, in a good way of course!

How did I know Eeyore was going to chime in. Man up Jeremy. We aren't playing the NFC East. As Bees says, Temple and Mizzou are an easier two-some than TCU and WVU.

Maybe we can schedule a CNY high school team just for you.

why would the BOT do that?? are they as stupid as some of the so called fans here who are not renewing their tickets and refusing to go the 5 games they have?? :rolling:

total morons.

Oh Lord

I could see that but depending on how the players and staff did in each game and breaking down how the season unfolds will matter most to me. If our offense is 2 yards and a cloud of turf and isn't making any big plays, the D is giving up big plays, having stupid untimely penalties and braking down fundamentally, then I will blame the staff. It's just amazing how close 4-8/5-7 is to 7-5 and 8-4 can really be.

Anybody know how much scratch we are making wh*reing ourselves out to Mizzou yet? I have no problem with this game I remember Kaiser bringing up going to Mizzou a month ago, but I was hoping Dr. Gross could bank a future Dome game from them which seems highly unlikely at this point. I would rather play @Mizzou then host Colgate and gain nothing but 25k in the stands and bitching and moaning about 2 I-AAs. I am just disappointed we couldn't get them to commit to a future home game.

Mizz is not easier then WVU, Marrone has shown he can beat WVU and has a good game plan against them who knows how the Mizz game will go but based on there recruiting class im guessing not well. I agree on Temple but tell me where the 6 wins are coming from? USC - NO Mizz - NO, NW - Maybe Minn - We better Lville - Havent beaten then since Marrone took over ditto for Uconn and ditto again for Pitt. SO again where are the six wins?

at least you admit you are pro to the schiano-scheduling theory. rutgers fans should be happy they can form an alliance with you.

right like its been fun watching su this past decade-and marrones offensive style has pumped it up quite a bit
reward those who did stick by you ? hell no lets get the best ooc games in another state ,no way those who stood by deserve to watch nd usc or penn st as a home game-

im sorry but i told myself last year that if i didnt see something positive in 11 i would not buy again in 12-money is tight and ill spend it where i get some satisfaction or enjoyment-
at this point in time i would rather listen to a bad football game than go to one

those who have the means to travel -good for you-just dont give me because i dont

Folks we're not playing Alabama or LSU, it's Missouri they weren't even top 25. We are talking about a team who finished 5th in their conference just ahead of a Texas team who had a train wreck of a season. They were no better than Rutgers, a team we should have walloped. Just because they're going to the SEC doesn't mean they are a powerhouse. There were some who wanted to play Boise St, heck they finished 8th and are a perenial top 10 team. TCU was supposed to be on the schedule they finished #14. We whooped West Virginia 49-24 and they finished #17 and had they not bought out of the Big East we would have had to travel there.

Let's go to Columbia, represent, kick their butts for grabbing Brantley and call it a day.

Now about only having five home games, well that's another story.

I was thinking about it specifically regarding Nevada. We were trying to get them to play us here in 2012 and then play them there sometime in the future. We did this with Wyoming (if I remember correctly, we were in a schedule bind then too and they come through for us), played the game at home and then cancelled out of the return game. Wyoming was really unhappy about it. Nevada is joining the MWC in 2012, which already features Wyoming as a member.

"It's just horrible, and it shows no class (by Syracuse)," Wyoming football coach Joe Glenn told the Tribune-Eagle.
"We signed the contract, and we went out there last year to play them. It doesn't show much character on their part."

I don't know if the Wyoming thing is a factor in what seems to be an annual issue with scheduling. Yes, there have been extenuating circumstances but we always seem to be the last school in the conference to get our schedule out, we always seem to be grasping at straws. At some point, one would think we would be the Big East school that had their schedule squared away early and was all set. That never seems to happen.

Again, I want to know about a return game for visiting Missouri. Do we get one? Rutgers was in the same bind we were in, and was able to schedule a home and home with Arkansas. Heck, we talked with Arkansas ourselves. Missouri was in just as much of a bind as we were in. If we agreed to a) play them there and b) not require a return game at the Dome, this is completely unacceptable. I hope that the return game was just inadvertently not mentioned in the PS and DO articles. Sadly, I do not expect this to be the case.

Mismanaging these types of agreements leads to further problems in future years. You can't agree to schedule a BCS school in a one game contract at their venue. It just leads to playing 5 home games again some year in the future.

Watch the return Missouri game be played in the Meadowland in 2019.

How am I pro Schiano scheduling?? We are allready playing USC, NW, Minnesota, plus 3 Conference teams we havent beaten in half a decade. Newsflash this team isnt that good it needs a bowl game and we are allready playing the projected #1 team in the Nation. Yet you will just sit back and take pot shots at the locals, how many games are you attending this year? 1 maybe?

If we are worthy of a bowl game, we can beat a team like Mizzou on the road. This isn't Oklahoma. The couple of pre-season Top 25 polls I took a look at, they weren't included. Yes, it will be a tough task, and we will be underdogs, but let's not start writing off Ls already. Thats what losers do. (Ok, USC is an exception). Otherwise, go 4-3 in our conference, in which nobody is unbeatable, beat Stony Brook, and win 1 of our 4 BCS non-conference games. Even if we go 3-4 in conference, would you be shocked if we beat Minnesota and Northwestern? I wouldn't. Its not as gauntlet-like as you make it out to be.

That's why I hope the BOT gives HCDM an extension now.

bingo. is it that hard for people to figure this out??

i wonder how many other schools have only 5 home games?

this is what the second time in the last 3-4 years?

how many have had 2 in that time frame other than us?

the girls got 7 home games even with the clusterfludge

Still don't see the big deal. If Cuse's rep was ruined over not wanting to go to Wyoming, we wouldn't have gotten a long long look from the Big 10 or an ACC invite. My only regret is that we have to suffer through this pennace time because of some stupid 27 month exit rule put into place because of people getting an adverse reaction to what BC did.

What's also ironic is I remember posts talking about us having too many home games in a row. I get the feeling with some of our fans that Gross could hand them gold brinks and they'd complain about the weight.

Tulane, Howard, Kent, Army, Arkansas -- thats some exciting non-conference football.

Its a one year anomaly. Get over it. We will be playing 6 home games going forward once we get cozy in the ACC.

thats what they said about our 5 game home schedule a few years ago-

you ok with 5 home games every 3 years or so

and the girls have a better shot at a bowl than us because of it-along with the recruiting and extra practice that comes with a bowl game

I disagree.. you play the cards you're dealt.

Epic fail by SU and the AD. Don't say USC would be in the Dome. Don't guarantee that any year with a Meadowlands game would still have 6 home games. If you want to blame everyone else then do something about it and sue the BE for damages. Otherwise and admit you messed up and screwed the fans.

It's an anomaly that could have been avoided. Like Kingotto asked, what were we doing in October when TCU announced they were out? This didn't just happen last week. Plenty of deals were made since October. Were we hoping the BE would take care of us? :bang:
