I can live with losing a kid to Florida or LSU over $$$.

As long as he doesn't flip to Rutgers or UConn.

:p
And those schools are losing kids and scrambling, too. There’s no avoiding it, especially since all the “agents” seemed to realize at once that they have the leverage given the expectations of signing day so they all recircled for more cash.

Could be a leverage play for more money. His “agent” (lol) could see Cuse in a more vulnerable position after the season and is trying to squeeze

Angeli was and still is the leader of this program. There will have to be additions to the QB room to pursue a very good QB who could step in IF Angeli gets injured again. It will be interesting to see how many QB's stay and who leave.

At the time he was injured Sept 21, 2025 third quarter vs Clemson his states were No. 2 QB in the country 4 yards behind Sawyer Robinson of Baylor. Steve in the Clemson game before the injury was 18 - 31 244 YDS, 2 TDS. His stats were 1316 YDS, 10 TDS, 62% comp rate.

He is a very mature intelligent leader. IMO everyone bought into Steve's guidance and we were doing very well. Steve had surgery to repair the tendon the day after the injury occurred. That would be Sept 22. A six month recovery would be March 22. By July 22 he will be ten months into recovery. I have taken this information from Mass. General Hospital Sports Recovery. The program is a comprehensive sports rehabilitation. PHASE VII: EARLY to UNRESTRICTED RETURN TO SPORT (6+ MONTHS AFTER SURGERY). I think Steve will do well. It will be 11 months almost one year by Sept. Here's hoping all goes well

Let’s break it down.

At ND Angeli was a backup. His best moment came in the 2023 Sun Bowl when he threw three touchdowns against Oregon St., but outside of that he was a spot duty qb. He never won the starting job outright and that’s telling. He was seen as a capable fill in, not a program cornerstone. This year he was slated to be third string.

He put up big numbers early in just four games. But here’s the catch: the system inflated those stats. Nixon’s offense has consistently produced high passing yardage totals, regardless of who’s under center. Angeli's stats were also heavily inflated against weak opponents like Colgate and UConn.

The achilles tear is a devastating injury for any athlete, but especially for a qb who already lacked mobility. His rushing stats were brutal. 23 carries for -33 yards. He’s a pure pocket passer with negative rushing production meaning defenses don’t have to respect his legs at all. Combine that with the Achilles tear and you’re looking at a qb who could be even less mobile going forward.
You didn’t answer my simple question. You claimed Calvin’s not coming because Steve is a question mark. so you’re doubling down?

An 18 year old's decision provides sufficient drama for me (well that and the Gilmore Girls). Can we stick to him in this thread?

College Playoffs vs Penn St. You should watch what he did there

He was to by ND they where moving in a different direction with QBs and transfered. It happens alot in college football.

Sure the system can generate better numbers and if where just a system thing why did Collins and Co not have amazing numbers? You can't just put anyone back there and get McCord numbers.

Steve will prove it next year, he is the real deal.

Hope we land him, but I am way more concerned about improvements to the O line, D line, RB, & backup QB. Maybe TE too.

There are so many issues to address. This is like getting a Lamborghini but not having gas to run it.
Agreed so many holes to fill. It's like buying a lamborghini but your roof at home is leaking like a sieve and the foundation is about ready to collapse but that's Fran! Says stuff and wears cool sneakers so it makes sense

Okay, here's my take. If Calvin decides another school is a better fit, due to roster, coaching staff, NIL/revenue-share, location, etc., so be it. I wish him well. What I didn't like was him saying all fall that he was locked in with Syracuse, and his recruitment was done, etc. If you're unsure, just say you love Fran Brown, but don't say that other stuff. I get he's a kid, and I'm not bashing him, but I also thought his taking the mic at the signing ceremony at MN was a bad look. Takes away from the other kids who signed, including his teammate (TH), who signed with Syracuse. I hope Calvin sticks with Syracuse. Candidly, I'm kinda over the drama, though. WRs in the portal with more experience are fine by me...

This is just another way for Fran and Cuse to stay in the headlines. He was never flipping. Fran is a master.
It would build buzz if that’s the case.

Running back?
