I'm not a guy in the know, but Fran is selling the culture, and the culture isn't 100% there yet. The image is still there. Calvin is likely 100% still in, and that can sell Nick, as well.

Miami insider Gaby Urrutia said this. Also, considering since they were all wrong about his initial recruiting I’m skeptical of where he got this information from. I’m not worried yet, just an interesting piece I thought I’d share with you all. (This came out a few days before our game today if anyone was wondering)

Listen. Did today suck? Sure. But do Fran and staff have a year and a half to show Russell what we can do? Yes. Are Fran staff great recruiters? Yes. Do we have a few of Russell’s teammates from high school that are already on the roster that love Fran? Yes. Is Rickie gonna be the QB next year? No. Is Angeli the much better QB that had success under Fran gonna be the QB for Russel’s first 2 years gonna be here? Yes. Did we have a packed dome to show that we can support our team and be serious about football. Yes. We are also offering a bag at Russell. Russell LOVES Fran. Today sucked, yes. But there is still ALOT to pitch to him. Our program is on the upward trajectory for sure. We are a big time passing offense. Even with Rickie Russell can see that. There’s a lot going for us even with a sucky loss. People need to chill out

Yeah I’m a little concerned, but hopefully they’ll hold on to him. If it was Dino I’d have no hope, but if there’s one coach and coaching staff I have faith in to hold onto Calvin it’s HCFB and his staff.

How about worrying about keeping on own guys that are currently on the team?

And of course, Calvin is still being heavily pursued by Miami. Just need to get to a bowl and hold on to these guys.

Not to be a downer but i think having Steve back by Spring ball, or after, are extremely aggressive. I think Fran is saying that for certain reasons. Achilles is absolutely one of the worst injuries you can have. Some of the best athletes in the world had a torn achilles and never made it back to their former ability. Procedures and rehab are improving rapidly, but it’s still a leap to expect him back at 100% by the start of next season. Typically, it’s 12-18 months before you’re 100% and that’s with the absolute best care money can buy.

We need to be looking for a QB on this current team, and definitely in the portal.
