I’m just posting what I’m seeing online. I do know one thing and this goes for the entire recruiting operation, we are only getting a very small bit of what is actually going on publicly. Some insiders here may know more. The team is extroverted and very tuned in and constantly improving established relationships and building new ones. It’s impossible even for those whose job it is to be in the know to keep up with it. It’s very exciting. By the day, it’s not even a matter of if we will become a powerhouse but when.

Probably doesn't happen often but pretty sure it has happened before. I think I remember some recruits taking fall OV's on gamedays and having already been committed before the OV. And you can only take one OV to a school.

With a kid like Russell who has been hear multiple times, that seems like a case where it could happen. Probably won't from most reporting, but this kid has not revealed too much info to the public, so I wouldn't put the chance at zero.

I look forward to the video of you actually eating your phone.

Very little has been publicly reported about Calvin's recruitment. He's enjoying a lot of visits, as he should. He's been on campus a lot. He's tight with a lot of guys on our team. And we have Fran. Just stay patient. This has been Fran's priority target for several years.

I'd say LSU has more going for it than money. Not a respectable human being as a coach, but they do have a history of putting out some legit NFL receivers. Justin Jefferson, Jamar Chase as well as two rookie first rounders in 2024 that put up 1200+ yds a piece in Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas Jr.

Now do those schools pump out good WR's because they are great at developing them or do they just recruit great talent? I think Fran and company could develop Calvin just as well. Hope he eventually decides on SU. But if not we should have a lot of other really good options out there at WR.
 
I agree that the optics don't look great for SU to land Calvin on July 5 if he hadn't taken an OV to 'Cuse...but he's also visited 'Cuse numerous times, he could be saving an OV to the Hill for the fall, and while I think LSU has the buzz, I'd never count out Fran. Awfully tough to read Calvin's recruitment. Multiple reports I've read in recent days stated that Calvin plans to visit Syracuse this fall, FWIW.
 
Soooo, Kamron Wilson, our 4-star commit from Miami, FL, who had his OV this past weekend, just announced on Twitter that he's coming back to Cuse this weekend. Back-to-back weekends? Calvin Russell is from Miami...

This is exactly the kind of thing I am holding out on. Fran loves this kid (and his talent is undeniable) but from all accounts, it's not just because he is a great player, but because he is the exact type of person Fran wants to work with.

Fran is a special dude, and he builds special relationships. People on the board know I want Russell more than any other recruit in the 26 class. I have no insider connections, and likely never will. But if there was one kid I expect Fran to pull some magic with, it's this kid that he has had a great relationship with for years, and that has many reasons to love being Orange.

Will it happen, no clue. But Richmond certainly thinks we are positioned well. My fingers are crossed that he is absolutely right and July 5th goes our way. Heck maybe he wants to do an OV in the fall and be 'the guy' helping recruit the last guys we are hunting to be Orange after a big time win in the dome.

Maybe he would rather visit during the season when students are on campus plus a home game. He’s already been here at least three times.

As I said before if it is LSU, their top wide receiver target is rumored to flip to Miami. Makes sense why LSU would make a big push for him.

But why do a 7/5 commitment? Obviously, what you’re allowed to do on OV’s compared to pay your own way visits are night and day. If he commits to Cuse on 7/5 after taking OV’s to all these other schools and then hangs on to OV at Cuse in the Fall would be amazing. Just has the feeling of another bridesmaid recruitment.

As a person who knows nothing...

7/5 implies he wants it out of the way for his senior year. Go on all the free trips you want, and then tell the world what you want to do.

Why wait if he knows where he wants to go and knows his commitment could bring other highly rated prospects with him?
