Class of 2025 WR Darius Johnson (FL) COMMITTED / SIGNED NLI TO SYRACUSE (12/4/24)

Lot of teammates of a certain top 26 wide receiver…..
Since we are bringing in 3 Miami Northwestern guys and after at least 1 for ‘26 (Calvin Russell) I went to their website to check out their stats. I figured the 2 late additions must have been guys who had big senior senior seasons and was correct.

Eric Thomas- 2 games played 3 tackles 1 sack (must have been injured)

Deangelo Thompson- 6 games 21 tackles 10 sacks

Calvin Russell- 11games 32 receptions 618 yds 10td

Darius Johnson- 11games 33 receptions 681 yds 8td

So technically both of these late addition flips from lower level schools had excellent senior years that equaled or exceeded the production of their much higher ranked teammates. These guys are playing against some top notch competition so great late additions by the staff.

Very impressed by this staff’s ability to spot these late bloomers. Did the same last year too. They tend to the kind of kids who keep developing and get better Vs others who have peaked early.

Miami Northwestern is in the mix to win the state championship too

Personal: Son of Lareka and Duane Johnson … Has four siblings.

Umm...this is the correct spelling right? We're not talking about this Dwayne Johnson right? Probably not but considering the Miami connection...it was worth the question.

But after sleuthing deeper, unfortunately "the Rock" doesn't appear to be involved in any way. :-(

On to the positives. Below are some new highlights he posted to Hudl 5 days ago. Really like this kid. Super underrated. He did have offers at some point from Arkansas, Auburn, SMU, USF and WVU per 247. Super tough for his size. Not an ounce of his body plays scared. Gives it everything he has on every play and exudes confidence on the field. Plays much bigger than his height and weight. Runs great routes, very shifty and has great hands making some really nice catches. Just really smooth and explosive. Knows how to play the game. Love this pick up. McCord would have loved to throw some timing routes to this kid. I can see him turning into a Pena type after hitting the weight room for a year or two.
