Class of 2023 WR Johntay Cook (TX) TRANSFERRING TO SYRACUSE (5/1/25)

I can't wait to see this kid on the field for us. I think that we are getting a true first or second round talent and i do believe that if Fran is willing to take him and provide a second chance that he understands the rules.

Are we definitely getting him?
kcsu tends to err on the hopeful/optimistic side of things and isn't connected as well as a few others in here. No offense, kc. For what it's worth your messaging does pull me back from the ledge when things seem bleak.

No It doesn't. The same people that don't want certain type of kids in the program now, didn't lionize Brown or Coleman. Tell your friend that. You might also ask your friend why he decided it was a good idea to drudge this topic up again?
Drudge what up again? Cooks history is the general concern in this thread.

everyone has a past. If the coaches think he passes muster how is that not enough?

We know 25% of what these kids do. Maybe…

It’s Johntay….
Sashay, Johntay!

My interpretation of your post, which brought up Jim Brown and D Coleman was that those of us
that were against bringing in kids with questionable backgrounds was hey, you guys rooted for Brown and Coleman, you must be hypocrites. That is what drudging this up again meant. We had moved on. If we get this kid, we get this kid. Hopefully he pans out. And for me, because coaches whose lives depend on winning games over just about anything else, a guy passing muster with them doesn't carry all that much weight.

This thread is exhausting. It's very simple, if you don't like talented kids who have made mistakes getting second chances, then don't watch college football. It's Frans job to determine if these mistakes are harmful to the program or if he feels himself/coaches/DART can mentor him. If they are harmful, then he will dismiss them from the program ASAP. You have no idea the pressure and influences these KIDS face. Lets not forget Johntay was on the honor roll in high school and at Texas, his charges seem more like a cry for help judging how smart and talented he is. I trust Fran can help Johntay and I have complete confidence in the players he brings in.

That’s my point

Everyone has a questionable background…some get caught some don’t…who am I to judge? In Fran I Trust

You guys lost me with the word “drudging.”

I think you meant “dredging.”

Although reading too many posts about dredging can lead to drudgery.

Agree with all that but I have to say pretty much every kid makes the honor roll these days. It’s a participation award.
