Class of 2026 WR Messiah Hampton (NY) Verbal to Oregon

He also predicted Hampton to Cuse. I just find it hard to believe when Oregon has 5 predictions, our WR coach and unlimited NIL
I absolutely agree with this, especially since Steve Wiltfong hasn’t changed/updated his previous prediction that he placed.

I don’t want to break any rules on this forum, but people on Miami’s board have posted pictures of articles talking about Hampton and how things have changed in his recruitment from Oregon to a Cuse/Miami battle. Again to the mods, if I’m breaking any rules by sharing this information please don’t hesitate to take these posts down.
I like what I’m reading on the Miami board on both Hampton and Russell recruitments lol. At the least, the latest info suggests Oregon isn’t a lock for Hampton. Even the 247 projections was medium confidence not high confidence.

We have a chance with both Russell and Hampton. I think a better chance with Russell to commit to us but, a better chance for us to flip Hampton in December. I’d say for both guys we are in 2nd place recruitment wise, Fran isn’t gonna stop recruiting either until signing day.

Per 247's profile of him, it looks like Messiah has an OV scheduled to SU June 5th and then a visit to Oregon scheduled for June 6th. At the very least we have a good shot in this.

I wouldn't be surprised if some of the situation is that we have been going hard at him for a long time and other top programs may have slightly slow played him near the end as they may be involved with top 10 types of receivers. If those teams falter and then go after him, how does he feel about that? We'll see.

Full court press needs to be on here. This is the kinda guy you just have to keep at home in order to vindicate the momentum you have as a program.

I trust this staff, what they’ve done on the recruiting trail has been remarkable

I dont want to spoil Mikes VIP article but he hinted about the Oregon visit and said that were in a good spot

unlimited NIL doesn't mean we're out as we all know that

does he want NIL? Of course. How much does he value his family getting to see 6-8 games of his every year? More NIL means he could cover some costs to get from ROC to Oregon... but maybe staying home ain't so bad

No idea how much Oregon gives in NIL to incoming Freshman who aren’t 5star almost sure fire hits, but it’s no like Syracuse can’t make up some of the NIL difference. We did with King and Barnes. Getting an in-state kid from Rochester is worth it in more ways than 1. Plus, the recent NIL deal Fran had with Rochester maybe makes a difference somehow?

Picking up steam against Oregon.

From Miami Board and one of their insiders, DMoney: “WR Messiah Hampton (Rochester, NY) will take a midweek visit to Oregon and then visit Syracuse. He had a good visit here (to Miami) but Syracuse is the favorite.”

Crazy how much a few weeks can change. He was leaning Oregon heavily and Fran got him to take think about that decision. I’d say we’re out on Russell but Fran is not gonna stop recruiting Russell.
Why are we out on him? Is there no chance he schedules an ov?

I just don’t think we’re in the lead with Miami always being 1st but, Oregon pressing hard for a visit this weekend from him tells me, it’s gonna be hard to get him and Hampton.
That and now it looks like he won’t be visiting

From my understanding, if Hamptons mom and dad get their way. He’ll be Orange. Seems like Fran is working his magic. Regardless if we land him, it’ll be a fight to hold onto him until signing day
Yea it seems Hamptons changed his mind the past few weeks. Oregon was his favorite early May, but the past couple weeks Syracuse is his number 1.

Two different wide receivers types, so I don’t think that would be the issue. Maybe a cap space issue. I hope for Ross Douglas sake that Dan Lanning didn’t hire him only for his strong relationships with Hampton and Russell, but for his abilities as a coach as well. Because he may not get either of them in the end, could get both though so hopefully this doesn’t age bad. However, you’re asking two kids with several programs significantly closer to home wanting these kids badly to move to the other side of the country.
