Class of 2027 WR Nick Lennear (FL)

Would suck to lose out on him and upshaw

2027 class has been quiet lately. Off to a great start but hope we can the ball rolling again

It’s only January commits don’t start to roll in until spring.

Nick talks to Calvin Russell every day but there is potential concerns about the weather and distance.

I truly hope they didn't have any recruiting visits during that below zero stretch of weather. Just reschedule.

the weather in central ny sucks and is depressing a large chunk of the year. I grew up there, my parents still live there (and i hate visiting in the winter), and there's parts of it i absolutely love... but i totally understand an 18 year old kid not wanting to deal with 3 to 5 months of winter. Especially an 18 year old who grew up in South Florida. I was in Miami a few weeks ago while CNY was getting multiple feet of snow. I wasn't about to leave Miami to go visit my parents.

Flip side is having 80-90% humidity from May through October and June through August living in an oven while CNY is gorgeous. If you're not on or near the water in Florida Summers aren't that great.

To each their own but there is a reason snow birds matriculate back North in the Summer.

Also while college football is king in the South, at least half the NFL teams play in cold weather. Imagine never leaving Florida and getting drafted by Green Bay, Buffalo, Chicago, etc. and having to adjust? Never dealt with or driven in snow and having to travel further than campus.

Miami is definitely negative recruiting in this recruitment Especially against us with the weather distance and last years WR production.
Mentioning weather in recruiting and actually having it make a difference is ridiculous. Not to mention they practice in doors and play home games inside a dome. Who cares about putting on a jacket when you go outside in the Winter. Fall in upstate NY is better than anywhere else in the country. A lot of people, including myself, couldn’t deal with the year round heat and humidity in places like Miami.

Anyone recruiting against us with weather is a moron.

Gameday weather at Miami is much more likely to be an issue than at Syracuse.
Edit: Hurricane season is June 1st through November 30th.

? How can we afford possibly 2 - 5* receivers and not 1- 5* dt or olinemen. It seems we aren’t spending money evenly. Just seems off. U win in playoffs up front period. Good qb also.
It’s not only about what positions we are willing to pay for. It’s also about successfully recruiting that position and convincing the player to want you over the other schools at that position. We can sell the WR spot more right now than some others. Hopefully after next year that changes with the coaching upgrades we’ve made creating better results at those positions and then we can start convincing OL and DL and LB’s.

Well it’s a factor in this recruitment from confirmed sources.
