I had a similar experience. I had an '86 Chevy Blazer at SU in 1994 and was doing about 85 on Rt. 81 South on my way home to NJ when I was pulled over (Castle Creek I think). Anyway the officer says he is issuing a ticket as he clocked me doing 79. I knew he was likely doing me a favor, but I still laughed and asked, "In this thing!?"

My old boss drove about 97 mph down 81 when we're headed to a business meeting.

Now, we weren't in any shape or form going to be late, that's just how he drove.

I shot bricks a few times on the commute.
