I think your son handled the two years he's been in the program really, really well. Hand picked guy from the new coach, who throws the ball better than anybody we've had in awhile. Shows long-term perspective by redshirting instead of pushing for immediate playing time, resisting the temptation to burn the redshirt even after Dungey got injured. Last year, sits behind the incumbent and doesn't rock the boat, even when Dungey struggles and he intermittently plays better.
There's one play I can remember -- might have been against NC State -- where Dungey threw a long touchdown pass. As he's running down the field, the first person running up there to congratulate him, with unbridled joy on his face is Tommy. Comported himself like a great teammate, and a team-first player all season long.
Then, with Eric having graduated he gets to spend the whole offseason preparing to be "the guy." It sets up as a perfect transition. Your son has handled himself like a class act every step along the way, and now its his time.
