““I was crying when my coach (Casey Brown) told me. Then after he told me I called my mom, and then I was just crying to her, too,” Torrence said Thursday. “I was happy and emotional at the same time. What hit me was I live on the south side of Syracuse and I got an offer from a D-1 school. That’s what really hit me. I didn’t think a D-1 school would offer me this early. I thought it was going to be next year.”

The 5-foot-11, 185-pound Torrence said he’s also received initial interest from Baylor and Colorado State.
