Haha. Good retort. I actually meant "We're" as in SU as a program, not the board.Oh I don't know...I think quite a few of you are unstable.

I agree that i doubt we take him back, but I think Dino should reconsider. There will always be room when we clean up the bottom of the roster at the end of the season and have a handful of guys choose to move on.I don’t think we have the spot for him or I think we would take him back

Also, not directed at you, but despite what the media says, and this board, JW has shown more than enough faith in Babers where there is no way that he gets fired if we get 7 wins. Going into year 9 would be the definition of a stable program, that despite the recent blow outs, back to back bowl games is progress. Now if we don’t make a bowl game or go 2-3, then i take everything i just said back!
We waited too long on that. By the time he was fired the program was already going down hill and was at a point facility wise where we could have been a Texas high school. Not to mention P consistently underachieved when we actually had talent, and some of the most recognizable assistant coaches who would go on to be big time HC’s. Some of the losses we had were inexcusable. We also seemed to always lose early season games which knocked us out of any serious national contention. All you have to do is look back at the McNabb years. The combination of names he played with like Harrison, Spotwood, Darius, Abrams, Konrad, etc, etc, and then tell me how they lost at least 3 games in each season he started isn’t a huge underachievement. Even after that we had Freeney and a 2000 RB room that had 5 future pro’s, and iconic names on defense, but we were .500We fired Coach P after a bowl game and had to assemble a staff out of the scraps left over from other programs. It's a bad time to do it.

Looking back at this from time to time really frustrates me that we didn’t accomplish a lot more during this time period.

Well, while I haven't called for Dino to be fired ( I am getting there but will wait to see how the last 5 games run out) there is no recruit that should influence a decision on a coaches future. No one is that good. And fans are more than entitled to their opinion on coaches. As for me, I don't care one way or another where this kid goes to school.Did any of you really read his decommitment post from MSU?
He wants to find a program that is stable and consistent to call home.
With some of you calling for the firing of our coaching staff why on earth would he even consider recommitting to SU.
Unfortunately I believe that most 18 year olds base where they commit on their relationship with the people who are recruiting them... not the school.Well, while I haven't called for Dino to be fired ( I am getting there but will wait to see how the last 5 games run out) there is no recruit that should influence a decision on a coaches future. I am 100% on board with this entire recruiting class going in the tank if it means we replace Dino with a competent HC. Where Torrence goes should be the last of our concerns.Did any of you really read his decommitment post from MSU?

It seems that most kids make their decision based on the number of Washingtons that they can get.Unfortunately I believe that most 18 year olds base where they commit on their relationship with the people who are recruiting them... not the school.
That too.It seems that most kids make their decision based on the number of Washingtons that they can get.
Wrong Founding Father. Try Franklin. That too.
Amazing dataI did this in 2008 and never updated it, (maybe I will later: I'm kinda busy this week):
The subject came up of how many future pros were on certain SU teams. The SU media guide lists the Orangemen who were drafted by the NFL or signed as free agents in each year. Some of these guys were probably junior college transfers and a few may have jumped to the pros early but, to take a quick look at the situation, I decided to simply add up the total players where drafted or free agent signees over a four year period to see how many future pros were on each team’s roster. As a further disclaimer, being on the roster doesn’t mean you played a lot and being a draftee or free agent signee doesn’t mean you became an NFL starter. But I suspect this provides a pretty good map of the year by year level of talent at SU, for whatever arguments anyone wishes to make relating to the talent level at SU in any particular year or era. I decided to start with 1972, the first year freshmen could play varsity ball. For those who have the media guide, the players listed under 1973 were the ones drafted or signed after the 1973 season. The talent level is this the total of the players listed under 1973, 1974, 1975 and 1976. The last team listed in 2004, not because that was Coach P’s last year but simply because the section ends with 2008, the last year that would have had player listed who would have been on the roster in 2004. We would need the 2009 list to complete the record for 2005. I will try to update the list each year.
1972: 11 players were drafted or signed by the pros in 1973,74, 75 or 1976
1973: 10 players in 1974-77
1974: 10 players in 1975-78
1975: 9 players in 1976-79
1976: 8 players in 1977-80
1977: 6 players in 1978-81
1978: 9 players in 1979-82
1979: 10 players in 1980-83
1980: 9 players in 1981-84
1981: 10 players in 1982-85
1982: 12 players in 1983-86
1983: 13 players in 1984-87
1984: 17 players in 1985-88
1985: 23 players in 1986-89

2003: 31 players in 2004-07
2004: 27 players in 2005-07
Note: There were 23 players in 2006-08 so you can add this year’s draftees and signees to that total to get 2005.
1987-1998 pretty steady each year, we did underachieve during most of those years.Amazing data
Amazing drop off
Those numbers are crazy considering our overall record during that time. I think that backs up the underachieving statement during P’s time.I did this in 2008 and never updated it, (maybe I will later: I'm kinda busy this week):

We fired Coach P after a bowl game and had to assemble a staff out of the scraps left over from other programs. It's a bad time to do it.
Just think what the further drop off is after these years shown. Ugh.Amazing data
Amazing drop off
A bunch of things aligned on that, I highly doubt that ever happens again.
That said, a coach could leave for another job after a bowl game, but even that is rare. And wouldn't be Dino.
Does MSU really count, given the circumstances?Thats 2 decommits. Wonder how the conversation with his coaches went before deciding to decomitt to his home town program. He’ll end up at Rutgers or BC
Why? What will happen if he does? Oh right , nothing.Yeah, if he wants to come here, then Dino needs to have a meeting with the kid and work it out and let him know that there is no de-committing this time.
