Writing is on the wall for Gait, this isnt gonna work.

Haha. I’m not sure what’s more unlikely, Yale winning another game, or Syracuse.

I was under the impression that Shay was approached about the Syracuse job when it first came open, but his wife who is a CT native did not want to move. Either way, given how Yale has performed these last few years, not sure it’s something I’d be excited about.

I don’t see them firing Gait unless there is an alum uprising against him. How likely is that? The only wild card I can see in this is if Spallina Sr raises heck and leads a coup against Gait. Feels more likely that Spallina jr just bails.

At this point the only two names I’d be excited about are Chemoti and perhaps Kirwin. Get some major money and hire Tillman of course, but in this new NIL world is that what the SU athletic department wants.

Sad state of affairs that we are even having these discussions.

In Shay's defense he has to contend with Yale admissions...it's gotta be incredibly hard to maintain.

They've maybe not been the same defensively since losing Baxter to Fairfield. But he was still 12-4 last year which is better than any Gait year.

Overall he's a better coach and his teams are more disciplined. I'd be interested to see what his staff would look like though and what recruiting would look like. I assume he'd still hit the high academic lax schools they're in but would those kids want to come to Syracuse over the Ivy's and Duke etc. I don't know.

Pat March will be the fall guy is my guess.
He should be Gary gave him ownership over the offense he has failed to make any meaningful adjustments since he has been here to include his time with Desko. He has been in charge of recruiting and still has yet to recruit an elite dodger. The team has regressed on offense terribly from an elite ball movement offense to some haphazard horrible attempts at dodging short sticks. The Anderson experiment needs to end it was a gimmick of a wrinkle that ND failed to adjust too but everyone else has since. Why someone who reliably produces like Deere sits on a bench is beyond me. Thedefense isn’t much better horrible clears horrible approaches and lunging leading to being blown by. When it comes to fundamentals this team is flat out bad. So yes March should be a fall guy and Gary needs to recognize it soon or he needs to be gone as well

You do realize that the Anderson "experiment" ended the second that Finn Thomson was healthy.

Finn is back at starting Attack, and Bear barely saw the field.

I heard from an insider before Gait was hired that March was a mistake. The excuse has been that he didn't have the talent. No more excuses!!

If they are gonna make a move, I wish it were sooner rather than later. I think Lacrosse is one of the more challenging sports to coach. The combination of the culture & the team concepts all the way down to the lowest level fundamentals, you need a coach that can administrate or coach all of that.

Impossible to do as a laid back type without a talent advantage at every position. If we had a talent advantage everywhere, maybe, but we don't.

Just my opinion but I have to think that a better head coach and offensive coordinator could utilize Spallina's skills such as they are and develop a less flashy but more consistent and disciplined offense.

Just like the corporate world has discovered, teams need a hands on head coach who understands and directly has input into decisions ranging from overall strategy down to minute details and in-game decisions and who knows, maybe even adjustments!!

Collin Donahue, Marcellus HS coach.

He can coach Rayfield in a few years.

Gary Gait is a nice guy, hall of fame player and a good businessman apparently but he's a bad HC. It's year 4 and this program is in the same shape it was in Deskos last year.

Team has the same issues year after year despite a huge talent influx from year 1 to now. This offense mystifyingly dissappears for huge stretches, we still can't figure out a 10 man ride and for the third year in a row a top 3 team in not turning the ball over can't clear or stop turning it over in the last qtr of the season.

Defensively we struggle to stop known players and are the worst double team defense I have ever seen. I'm pretty sure Petro just broke through 3 guys for yet another goal. Dwan looks absolutely lost and our lsms got abused today.

Worst of all this team still can't play with any sense of discipline. Another 3-4+ penalties and so many wasted Offensive possessions. We also insist on playing the 2nd midline every other possession despite it being an absolute blackhole Offensively. Fundamentals are also a complete mess. That last sequence down 2 with 19 secs left was embarrassingly bad

Gait will get next year but if and when this team loses to ND next week and misses the tourney Wildhack should seriously consider pulling the trigger. Gait is not the long term answer and we're delaying the inevitable

Come on - Desko gave #22 to a criminal to save his job.

So, we need:

Men's & Women's LAX coaches.
Men's & Women's BB coaches.

As long as we're going to the store, does anyone need anything else? Maybe a Volleyball coach for a side order?
Il take some fries.

Scanlon got 22 way before the information came out about his issues with DV which occurred in his 2nd season. Certainly brining him in was a mistake but he didn't have a criminal background when he hit the portal.

That situation aside it's hard to discern a huge difference between this current team and Deskos last season. Not saying Desko shouldn't have been let go, clearly the time had come but have to acknowledge the same now, it simply isn't working.

I'm more disappointed with our failure to clear than our ability to score. We look poorly coached between the boxes and I sometimes question how much these guys are challenged. It's as if mistakes don't matter.

Offensively I don't particularly like the flash that doesn't convert and I think we're prone to bad shot decisions.

Gait mentioning in the post-game presser that they spent more time on clearing at practice than usual was very telling.

They ran Anderson multiple times on midfield and attack resulting in 0,0 to include a force feed that was knocked down shockingly some how Syracuse got a GB which might be the teams worst deficiency
