Writing is on the wall for Gait, this isnt gonna work.

We have had teams with similar or higher levels of talent come up short of the final four year after year since 2013. This team had some flaws they had to overcome, including a horrible situation at ssdm with minimal depth and one of our only two quality guys going down late in the season. Along with Levine, we desperately missed Kohn, Stevens, Olexo, and Matt Wright in the middle of the field. Excellent talent in certain spots, but it was not a perfect roster filled with premiere talent top to bottom.

This might just be my imagination, but some of the same people putting blame on Gait here are elsewhere agreeing with takes that we have an overrated 22 at attack, no speed, and no more than one elite dodger. So which one is it? If the talent is overrated and the coach sucks, then how the hell did we make the final 4?? Personally I do not think this team was so perfect in the talent department that they were able to get to the final four with a figurehead coach who does nothing and doesn't care. I also don't think he loses minimal talent to the portal, has success bringing in recruits (the 2026 class is our highest rated in a while with no help from St. Petro) and brings in talent from the portal as well, if the vibe that parents and kids get from him is that he's an apathetic figurehead.

First final four in 12 years and people think it could have been done without the head coach. I think you have to step back and think about all the years of failure we have had in this spot, often with stacked teams full of promise. Nobody knows what goes on behind the scenes. Why do people assume the worst based on nothing in a year where we saw some actual success?

Chemotti is going to have his pick of any open position for the foreseeable future. Amazing what he's done.
The interesting thing with him is:

1.) He's a Cuse/West Genny native and alum.

2.) He likely will never be coach at his college alma mater, Duke, because Matt Danowski is already there and presumably in place to take over when his Dad retires.

wish there were vegas odds on this. i would take chemotti as being named next coach all day, every day. that's before this year. i'd even give the field.

I should note I'm NOT advocating anything... I'm just pointing out that dynamic because I had never taken the time to look up his history.

little dano has probably put away the laxbro party with the guys thing by now, but unless he finds somewhere willing to give him the show elsewhere and somehow excel in a few years (which... might have big dano looking at country clubs in fla at his age anyway), i don't see it.

cassese interviewed for every opening available for years to get out of n.e. pa, didn't get any, so now attempting the "compete in acc" oc job. not sure that's working out for him.

chemotti has gotten calls for a host of jobs (as opposed to cassese doing the opposite), last known getting locked up for awhile by richmond as hopkins was in their search. supposedly the one easy out was if duke opened up.
