To move on from the various 'fire Red' threads, and assuming Red is retained - I'm curious the board's thoughts on what a year 3 with Red should look like?

What improvements would you make to the roster, coaching staff, style of play? What has to be achieved in order for Red to be retained beyond next season?

how about what kind of season does red need to have to remove the stink from this one? Unfortunately, the damage may already be done regardless of improvement

Build out the coaching staff including the Martello/Greenberg experienced HC type

Develop identity on both ends of the court

Drum up enough NIL to retain guys we want to keep. Losses of Maliq and Jesse have obviously hurt the last 2 teams significantly

Who on the current roster do you want to keep around?

Starling
Moore
Freeman
Majstorovic

Anyone else? Maybe Cuffe? I am done with Bell. I'd rather JJ not play PG next year so we are going to need a good PG and C again in the portal. I like Fennell but I'm not sure he's ready to play PG full time as a freshman. If JJ sticks around at SG where does Moore and Anthony play? Who plays the 3? If Freeman stays, where does White play? I am scared the staff looks at playing time issues there could possibly be and does not or cannot even bring in good talent from the portal. I honestly don't trust Autry to mold a young team into a consistent winner.

I heard this secondhand, so take it for what you will, but I heard Cuffe grew up loving Syracuse and is working on his masters. He's not going anywhere. This is where he wants to be even though he could get more playing time elsewhere.

•Have a clear identity and organized defense
•Show that you can make your players play hard, together and smart for you
•Recruit a starting P4 PG and C while retaining JJ and Freeman
•Fire Griff for an experienced coach
•Make the tournament
•Melo get the NIL budget to 5 million
•Don’t say we need to “fight harder” 37 times after every loss

It's almost like staying with your girlfriend after she cheats. I can't unsee what I saw. The team will not only have to make the tournament but they'll need to look organized and extremely well coached for me to get past this year. I feel like I'm watching AAU basketball this year.

Step 1) Last March, a board insider shared rumblings that Red may look to hire someone from Monteverde to join the staff. Do that.

Step 2) Have that Monteverde guy, with the help of Melo, convince Cooper Flagg, Derik Queen, Liam McNeeley, Asa Newell, Robert Wright, and Curtis Givens to get the gang back together by transferring to Syracuse next year.

With my 2 step plan, I truly believe Red could lead us at least to the Sweet 16.

If it’s true that we have additional assistant coach seats that can be filled, I’d want a Defensive Guru and an Offensive Guru to round out the staff. And just typing that we need both an offensive and defensive guru only validates that we have Nothing on the staff at present.

But, even with those additions, I’m finding it to be a challenge to even imagine how we are going to procure better talent in the portal. Where is the money going to come from?

I wonder, from those alums/fans who have contributed to NIL last year, are y’all more or less inclined to pony up again?

I’m sorry, man. Was it an affair or “just a one time thing?”

I'm waiting until at least the end of January to post anything on this topic. Red will either sink his own ship or demonstrate some improvement.

A rim protector is number one, two, and three. Outside shooting. A true PG- Cuffe got me excited the other day— could it be him?

Great question.

Weren't we a year later than we could have been with Alex Kline's hire as GM?

And I was shocked to read on this board recently, that we still have two open AC positions?
I thought Englestad filled the only spot we had available once GMac left for Siena, but I guess not.

Why are Red and/or the AD dragging their feet when it comes to these hires that can only help the program?

If Cuffe is the starting PG on this team next season, something is seriously wrong with the program or we all will have been relocated to an alternate universe.

To not have a thread like this next year day 3 of January!! My gawd things are bad.

Again, I'm not defending Griff, but why fire him? There is room on the staff to hire another full time assistant. I agree with everything else
