You are Red

Really? The kid has played his heart out here. Our fans suck.

No one is questioning his heart. The guy spent a lot of time in the off season making videos and it's apparent that he didn't spend much time on conditioning. Poor conditioning leads to injuries and doesn't show much dedication.

Same way JB always started the same group always and then would yank someone 3 mins in is going to happen going forward here with Choppa and Davis being first off the bench. Choppa has earned it. Hes the hardest worker on the team and is figuring it out defensively now too. He has crazy passion and is a great teammate.

That shot he made on the fast break in 2nd half- I don’t think people realize how hard that shot was and how easy he made it look. Running full speed into the corner to his left, completely gathered, straight up and buried it. That was one of the most impressive shots I’ve seen in college bball all year. Love the kid

Moore
Starling
Bell
Freeman
Dry Rub

Bench goes Davis for the 4 and 5, Taylor for the 3 to go offense/defense with Bell as needed and backing up as the 2, and Petar for extra front court minutes.

Situational minutes for Carlos/Cuffe/McCleod, whatever that means.

Edited to add: Because I'm a true believer, I'll also say once we see Westry he has a chance to change the backcourt balance.
Lampkin is too hurt to play. I am not sure he can recover.

A lot of good thoughts on Autry. The mentality that he wants players that can play multiple positions and all this “versatility” does not appear to be working on the hill.

I guess you can say we have depth but this may be working against us when you bring together a brand new team year and need immediate production.

Maybe there’s potential for dividends later in the year or this allows us to weather injuries better but who cares if it’s too late by then.

Autry brought up 3 seniors from mid majors that were expected to contribute. That # feels like it should’ve been 1 and if they pan out great.

Im not sure what other programs are doing but seems like we’ve been really good on the HS recruiting but too much hope for the best on guys that only played at the midmajor level. We’re not the place to take these risks at least right now. At least with P4 transfers there’s going to be a better way to know what they can or can’t do early on.

I can't say that I really understand bringing in mid major seniors unless you have a really specific need due to injury or an unexpected late departure.

If you think they are going to greatly improve your squad or they are best you can get...well, I'm not sure which is more worrying.

Those type of guys have been really helping real good teams all over the country.

How about we start the best players and start the game with the best lineup so we can have an early lead?

They had Moore bring the ball up a lot yesterday.

Maybe he's nominally the point in that lineup.
It shouldn't matter if he or Moore brings the ball up. In today's game, it is ideal if your 1, 2 and 3 are good enough ball handlers. In our starting lineup, Bell can't be trusted as a ball handler.

There have been solid mid majors who have done well and jumped to major programs and continued to excel. But, just as Duke was able to get Malik from us and Baylor the Duke guard who is playing very well, we should also be targeting highly regarded transfers from top programs.

I just don’t think starting matters. I think red knows that JJ and Choppa are better off the ball. I’m just praying Westry gets back….

I remember the Donnie near yank and I’m ok with it. He didn’t rotate and Red is harping that…the rotations are slowly improving. Donnie saw Petar and made a play to make up for it and Red pulled him back. If he could ever figure out how to use his body on O, Donnie would be unstoppable
He also jacked up a three.

Cuffe? Really?
He caused 2 turnovers in the 4 minutes he got yesterday.

He looks solid at PG and is too short to be a SG. 10x the player Carlos is.

Carlos has been so terrible its absolutely criminal Red refuses to give Cuffe any run. He was also hurt most of last year but this year his explosiveness is back.

Its no longer work out the kinks early November. We’re a month in now. There’s no excuses for the staff or the players. As Bodie would say in The Wire. We either Step Up or Step the *** Off.
