You talk about breaking up a party

I legit laughed when I saw posts about how the crowd was dead. The crowd was READY. How about actually making a singular good play other than the Willis run?

Team played a backup QB that clearly didn’t have it and got stomped by a better team.

As others have said… truly classic SU. I understand losing a starting QB is massive but not scoring a single touchdown and losing by 5 of them? Can’t have it. Ridiculously unacceptable.

And let me add— against DUKE! At home! We weren’t playing Ohio state or Oregon.

Plays his son far too much - Willis needs to be in the game 80/20 of the reps.
Nixon is great. Everything starts and ends with the QB injury. He never gave us a chance. Great coaches can’t overcome piss poor talent. Unless we go to the Villari WC we may not win another game this year. Angeli was that important.

I’d be fine with losing this game something like 38-31, especially if it was close the entire time. Still not a cover, but fans could leave feeling like they saw a good game we just came up a little short. Losing isn’t the issue - losing where you get your doors blown off before halftime absolutely crushed any interest from casuals needed to fill the stadium for at least a full calendar year. They’ll be like Punxsutawney Phil now - very unlikely they’ll poke their heads out to see how Syracuse is doing before October 2026.

If they get blown out next week with Rickie playing, you won't see 25,000 people in the seats the rest of the year.

I put this in the game thread, but I brought 3 of my friends to the game that hadn't been since 2023. Hyped it up to them all week, saying it would be a great game with a fresh new team led by Fran. Then, we all know what happened and we ended up watching the rest of the game in Miron after halftime to drink away the pain. I doubt I'll be able to get them to come to another game for a while. It is just so maddening that this keeps happening and is one of the major reasons that the dome isn't filled every week. People just spent $90+ a ticket to see us get absolutely destroyed...I would never pay that if I wasn't a season ticket holder. At some point we need to win these games, more than once, and for multiple years in order to see a change in attendance. Very disheartening

what ? you fancydancy boys too good for a goatskin flask ? lemme tell ya. you first witness the calamity unfolding before you with your own thine eyes. and then after witnessing said calamity first hand account and all ya take a deep swig from the aforesaid goat belly whisky receptacle hung around your neck. (ever so slyly slung backside upon entrance. ) you stick it thru to the end. you swear and you slur . you sl-ar .
til the end. the last whistle. the uber call home dammit!

You can blame me. I booked trip to Dallas thinking this would be a win. Now there is def no wind In my sail going into that game. But luckily get to go to TexanMark tailgate so I’m fired up for that

This was 💯 the kind of game I usually make it up there for.

Went to VT and Miami last year which started that way, but we came back.

I think I’m not the jinx anymore.

We had a catastrophic injury to our most important player. We need to take that into account. Our backup QB is wayyy below average and that stresses everyone else on the team.
Yep and people need to understand how having a completely non functional offense has a mighty big contribution to the defense laying an egg too. One makes the other worse, continuing a negative viscous cycle.

Just cannot overstate the importance of a good qb, edit, as I see and notice I mentioned above in another post

It is like “Groundhog Day” for all of us diehard Cuse football fans.

The team & coaching staff is getting recognition nationally, we have the #2 passing QB in the country, there is talk of us getting into the Top 25, the community is starting to believe that Fran is the real deal, and then the wheels come off.

Our QB has a season ending injury, back up QB is not ready for prime time, the kick return unit looks like 2024, and in front of a sellout crowd they get destroyed by Duke.

This program has once again missed a golden opportunity to get the community to buy into this football program. Not one the casual fans in attendance today will return to the dome anytime soon.

I’m still surprised fans thought Ricky would be able to win a shoot out over Duke. He’s not consistently accurate and he lacks the savvy a good quarterback posses. He’s just not ready yet.

Many of us were optimistic that he would
Make improvements like Angeli did with more practice reps and some live reps under his belt. So far he’s proven us wrong. Way wrong.

This type of game has happened too many times after good wins over the last 15 years
Just shows how far off we are as a program. I believe Fran is instilling a culture, that’s why i was a little more positive going into today than i probably should have been. Still a long way to go before “being back”.

Nah. Personally I didn’t expect he’d “be able to win a shootout” - but I absolutely expected he would look like he was a legitimate FBS football player. That he failed that test should be shocking to everyone.

And when a guy requires as much development as he does - there’s no “yet”. He’s not going to be a legitimate QB in a timeframe anyone can live with. We’ll probably need to smoke and mirrors our way through this season with some Villari WC, trick plays, Rickie, and prayers. It’ll be a miracle if we squeak out 3 more wins. But I do not expect at any point this season to think “wow, Rickie is looking significantly better”.
