I'm going to pose a glass half full thought, he told Fran he was done so he wasn't coming back regardless, that said SU was still honoring his scholarship for the remainder of his time on the hill. Zeed leaving frees up a scholarship and helps us get closer to our total number. It’s a net positive at this point.

I thought it was 105 roster spots. I don’t think scholarships matter anymore. I think scholarships are in fact required to be maintained when a player loses or relinquishes their spot on the team.

We need to shed roster spots. Scholarships don’t matter. Zeed is not on the roster. Walk-ons are (for now).

When a guy leaves the team and the school honors the scholarship, I don't believe it counts against the scholarship or roster count, whichever matters. So really it's a net neutral.

His entire family traveled to the UNLV game (or at least a large number) and I don’t believe he was even there. So I don’t know.

If he was booted and wanted to continue playing football then he would've portaled in December.

My guess is that he didn't want to play football anymore, or wasn't committed to it. It happens. Now he might realize he's got nothing and needs to get paid.

Can’t expect Fran to sit on his doorstep like a puppy dog in love hoping for a date. Zeed was with the team the whole year and played 2 games and wasn’t injured. Writing was on the wall.

Last thing we need is to be paying decent NIL to a player that isn't committed to actually playing (regardless of their talent level.)

I wish Zeed all the best at his next destination, but glad he's moving on.

Maybe Zeed is still dealing with "whatever" and obviously won't be playing this year so Fran told him he needed to retire thus by giving SU a roster spot while he continues to get an education and sort "whatever" out. Then if sorted out and he unretired next year or whenever he would be welcomed back. But maybe the parents and or him have an issue with that as being retired he can't have access to SU football related facilities and amenities? Just a thought.

So odd. He immediately had some impact on the field, was clearly looking like a top wr in our offense and now… he simply has a big question mark surrounding him. I hope he gets where he needs to be for his future to be bright. It’s sad to see talent just not put the pieces together in some fashion. I don’t know his story and don’t need to, in all accounts he is a bright young man and there must’ve been unknown hurdles that were too big in his time here.

None of us know the situation he faced. Fran was very protective of any information getting out on the situation. I hope it turns out well for him but I have a hard time believing he will find a coach more devoted to having him succeed in life than Fran.
