Fall Roster / New uniform numbers

that's 2 whole kids. I'm talking about the entire group of 13 kids listed on this roster.

The defensive back room averages 6'-3/4" and 189
Jason Poles was good size

Kevin O'Neil was a DB/LB

Can't remember on Phil Nash, Ian McIntosh, and Rod Gadson, though I believe Gadson was good size.

regarding Hatcher and Brown you're talking about lean athletic 19 year old kids who could probably eat mcdonalds and drink milkshakes all day long and not gain a pound. Sometimes gaining weight isn't easy for this type of athlete. Young kids, they'll likely physically mature as they go.

I miss the days when I could eat McDonalds and drink milkshakes all day long, all washed down with a 12 pack, and not gain a pound.

Now I eat a salad with no dressing, have 2 Coors Lights, walk 4 miles in an hour, and gain 5 pounds.

The DL group is interesting. Looks like they want to keep Chase and Nolton light and quicker over on their side of the line. Locket and Fuentes-Cundiff with good gains should help us hold up in the middle. Okechukwu even bigger at 276 now!

Great to see. Hope the additional weight enables them to hold up just a hair better against teams that want to line up and run straight at us. I imagine that improved depth / having Ingraham as an option will help, too.

Nolton's weight loss is interesting.
Not sure how he fits at that weight in the scheme. I know we would like quickness but he is the same size as LBs. Now if he is moving to lb his weight makes sense.

Ellis not shedding anything at 375? C'mon man what's the deal. Do you want to play or not?

These backers should be ready to dominate, especially with the added size and depth in front of them on the DL.

The transfer LB Khalib Gilmore is an intriguing prospect. Kid was cornerback in HS at 6-3 185 and now goes 6-4 225.

I swear someone had mentioned that Ellis had lost 30lbs but I can't remember who or when this was stated by...hmmm.
Some of us who attended the spring game thought he looked about 30 pounds lighter.

Not sure if we were bad at estimating weights (apparently not a lot of carnival barkers here), or if he gained it back. Maybe it is a mistake and he is a sleek rocket?

I hope so.

Check back when the roster is fully updated with all the freshmen and walkons.

85 or so scholarship players plus 25 or so walkons = more than 100.
Which has always blown my mind. I post often about it.

Agree. Last year we had Geer at 238 at one DE, and his back-ups were in the 240-250 range. They had some quickness, but not the bulk to stand up to power running attacks. Now, Jobity (263), Jaquez (254) and possibly the true frosh Jalil Smith (recruited at 240 now listed as 266) should help.

It hurt to have Geer transfer out, but we do have better depth and size overall. The makings of a good rotation.

Interesting that Lequint didn't add anything. I thought he may add a few lbs. Then again maybe he just wasn't weighed since he is supposed to be away from the program.

He is a light heavy weight boxer at 195 lbs.

I really like what I see on this roster even though it is not completed with all the players here, we have good talent size depth and experience, I really feel we are finally a solid middle of the pack ( ACC ) team.

Yup. Depth / talent has increased on both sides of the ball.

Going to be a fun year!

That group has great measures for a speed team.

Some fluctuate at different weights based on how functional they are in the scheme. Weight gains arent always good. Always fun talking about the new weights and rosters though. It means we are getting close to that time. Yessir
Jalil Smith intrigues me. If he keeps good athleticism and flexibility at 266, it gives him the scheme ability to move around. I wasn't expecting much from him this season but based on a 20lbs gain count me intrigued.

Glad to see Stefon Thompson keep his weight down, even being sidelined with the injury. Hopefully gets back to full speed soon.

Jason Poles was good size

Kevin O'Neil was a DB/LB

Off top of my head (since I was on campus these years)….Poles, Charles Burton, Nash were all safeties in 6ft range (Poles little taller)

O’Neil was pretty much exclusively backer after 1st/2nd year on campus when he put on size.

Corners were generally small other than Willie Ford who was 6’2 range. Gadsen was a Smurf at 5’7 175 range, Ian McIntosh 5’10 170ish, Will Allen 5’10.

This was the day and age that the bigger safeties ie Bullock, JR Johnson, O’Neil, Vernon Banks were all moved in the box to the linebackers to improve team speed.

#98 Williams is gone

#17 Jalil Martin (Nebraska transfer) not listed yet.

Never know if the weights are accurate but some jump out.
Perry 278
Both true freshman OL 306 and 309. No more 260 OL freshman
All the other OL good size accept one.
Caleb at 276. Jobiety at 263. Lockett 280. Ingram 301. Finally have a DL with size.
The one person I did not see was the second juco RB.
