Hobart Game Thread

I doubt this was an un-calculated "Johnnie Morant-esque" decision. I'd guess that he informed the staff that he would not be utilizing his 5th year. Knowing his high academic background, maybe he'd rather get a head start on Med School.

We'll deal with it ... in 2019. :p

From tonight's game notes...

Freshman faceoff specialist Nate Farrell made his collegiate debut and won his first career draw in the fourth quarter …

And the Daily Orange:

For SU it was Williams, Paduda, sophomore Joe DeMarco and freshman Nate Farrell who took turns at the X. In the cage it was Wardwell for 38 minutes before giving way to junior transfer Warren Hill and then to third-year goalie Evan Molloy for almost nine minutes.

Well, somebody's redshirt was blown tonight. :noidea:

EDIT: Box Score now shows Farrell instead of Parker.

It was Farrell. The SUA app isn't up to date, Farrell now wears #29 & Parker is #54

It amazes me that parents are willing to pony up for the five years of college. I say blow the redshirt :) It is not like football and basketball where there are so many full scholarships. NCAA Division I men's Lacrosse teams have an average roster size of 45 players but only a maximum of 12.6 scholarships to award per team. This means that the average award covers less than 30% of a typical athlete's annual college costs! That is the average and Syracuse seems to have a larger roster than average. Lacrosse is an equivalency sport for NCAA limits, so partial scholarships can be awarded (up to 30 per team in NCAA I) as long as the combined equivalent awards do not exceed the limit. Some athletes receive full awards, some receive partial and many receive none! If I were a parent I would be jumping for joy!
